Maybe you can do me a favor to solve my problem at about 29:20 of the video: after inputting dem file with new raster into ArcScene, the background jpg disappeared in my case. After exporting Basemap, have you georeferenced the JPEG file, or it is georeferenced? Because in my study area when I export it, it doesn't have a geotag, and also even when I assign a coordinate system to it in ArcCatalog, it doesn't accept it. I think we are not allowed to georeference the base-maps in that way. Maybe you have georeferenced the image using Georeferencing tool and control points.
