Danielle, as she was called, was born and raised in California. Her mother died of cancer when she was just 2. She was then raised by her maternal grandmother, Scarlett Rippeon, until her grandmother died when Danielle was 14. After that, she lived with her step-dad, Michael Boulton until she was 17.During high school, Danielle was a cheerleader. At just about 5 feet and 100 pounds, she was the "flyer" person who got tossed and twirled in the air by fellow cheerleaders - a fun position for Danielle. She also loved cosmetics and wanted to go into the beauty business, perhaps someday opening a nail salon. She married Skyler Nemetz on March 7, 2013, in Columbus, Georgia, when she was just barely 18. Skyler was in the army and they eventually relocated to off-base housing in Lakewood, WA.She temporarily quit high school to get married and move, but she eventually went back and graduated in 2014. Oct. 16, 2014: On the day Skylar Nemetz was returning home from the army , Danielle video chatted with her best friend, Michayla Yingling, that morning saying that she couldn't wait for him to get back. Later that night, with Skylar home, Danielle video chatted with Michayla again. She was sitting at her computer desk. Skylar was in the background on the couch," Yingling said. "And then she ran over to him and jumped on his lap and was acting all happy that he was home."Danielle Nemetz and Michayla Yingling hung up and 12 minutes later Danielle was dead -- she was shot through the head as she sat looking at her computer screen. Neighbors across the hall called 911 to report hearing a gun shot. Skylar Nemetz knew about guns.
He’d been around them from a young age, and as a former Joint Base Lewis-McChord soldier was trained in how to handle them.
Pierce County Superior Court Judge Jack Nevin made that clear Friday in sentencing the 21-year-old for manslaughter in the fatal shooting of his wife. You were an expert,” the judge said before imposing the high end of Nemetz’s sentencing range: 13 1/2 years in prison. “And the level of the expertise that you had shows the degree of recklessness. This isn’t someone who picked up a weapon for the first time.”
