Worst Colored Pencil Review Ever

I know the title might seem a bit over dramatic, but once you watch the review you might agree with the title. I have also completed a written review where there is some additional information and images that you might want to see including the Art Track Colored Pencils on black paper etc.

I would also like to say that in no way whatsoever am I being disrespectful toward the company that has made these colored pencils. There are one or two things I think they should change or do differently but I address these in both the written review and this YouTube video review.

Than you for your honesty Harry. These pencils are presented so well and look really good many people could be tempted to buy them especially for children but imagine the dissapointment, they would be put off art for ever.

Wow Harry, wow... I watched almost all of your videos and I subscribed to your channel a loooong time ago, almost 5 years ago, and I'm sure I have never seen a review title like that. They must be really really bad to tell such an "extreme" thing. Look at that green: what a shame it is, very grainy and you can see how difficult it is to get some pigment from that core . They seem to lay down a lot like the "Elios" from FILA, the worst pencils you can buy here in Italy.
Half a year ago I bought a 120 set of "Zenacolor" from Amazon for 23€ or so for my mum. They are another relatively well known set of budget pencils, good for coloring books, kids... not aimed at anything serious, for sure. But heck, from what I can see they have at least 3 times more pigment than those "Art Truck" and you can layer on watercolor paper pretty easily with most of the colors. These seem like subpar qualty chinese pencils that bet everything on the number of colors and price

Oh dear, frustrating pencils are the worst! But more importantly, filling a water brush with odourless mineral spirits….that is pure genius and I am totally going to try that! ❤️

This reminds me of my experience when I used to do a lot of coloring. I had been using better pro brands for a while and knew the results that I could achieve with them. But to challenge myself one time I bought some Crayola markers or pencils I can't quite remember. Anyway, I worked on a piece and the big difference I noticed was that it took me so much longer and required so much more work to get the beautiful look with color lay down, shading and highlighting and everything. It was so much harder to get the kind of quality end product with the cheap stuff than it was with the good stuff. We all know, there are some brands that are very inexpensive, but give us decent quality. Here in the U.S., General's is one of those brands. But they don't offer a huge array of art products...mostly pencils, small sets of color pencils and some other small art accessories. But I can imagine the frustration with an entire large set of colored pencils, to have this kind of poor quality would be very frustrating. Thanks again for your clear and honest reviews.

Hullo Harry, thank you for sharing your experience with these pencils! I purchased the square Brutfuner budget pencils for my nephews and nieces to use when they visit. Very good value for price! I also purchased Jerry’s Artarama Cézanne pencils both sets are 120 pieces and they are also very reasonably priced the Cézanne pencils are about $10.00 more but are a bit better grade of pencils. They are also inexpensive that I am happy to let others use them as a step up from the Brutfuner square pencils!
Sometimes companies make a money grab and without people like you and Lindsay to help consumers make a good choice they would succeed in taking our money and give us crap! You create honest fair reviews and we appreciate YOU!

Thank goodness for this review. Usually I make pieces with graphite pencils or watercolor. I wanted to try my hand with colored pencils and I saw this had good reviews so I ordered it. When I tried it, what I got was pretty grainy and my hand was getting sore from trying to blend + layer. I was thoroughly convinced that it was my fault and I just purely sucked ass. But lo and behold, this review restored my hopes and dreams of being an artist. Restoring my faith and reassuring me that perhaps I was not a complete and utter failure. Thank you.

Thank you for the review! I honestly like reviews like this that tells us to avoid stuff- far too many reviewers only do positive reviews and while a positive outlook IS good it does not benefit us consumers all the time. Honesty is far, far more important for us who watch reviews. I am only sorry you had to waste money on these pencils!

I also bought these as the advert made them look amazing. They are the worst pencil set in my collection, my grandkids won't even use them. Maybe they will be great as fire wood in the winter too help keep warm 🙈

Thanks so much for your honesty, this is the sort of set I’d be looking at for Christmas presents for my great niece12 or even my grandchildren 5&6 but will definitely avoid these. I want to encourage them to enjoy art works and these wouldn’t do that. As you say in these times money is tight and I’d have hated to provide a rubbish present.

I had this experience so many times as a child. My parents and grannies knew better, but many relatives would come around with the cheapest most horrible pencils and I'd hate it. They were hard (it was exhausting to even colour a tiny leaf), difficult to get any colour out of the pencils, there was no way to make a shadow or get different tones, and often the colour outside and the colour inside didn't match. They all went to the donations box.

OMG I saw this teaser on youtube and I remember how bad they where when I bought them in 2021. Brought back memories. They where an absolute disaster pigmentation wise and hard, very hard. I Liked the box though. But the pencils....NO WAY. These are indeed the worst
