Screaming Piha doing its loud call

Screaming Piha (Lipaugus vociferans) lands in front of me, and start doing it's loud call...
This is the bird you hear often on documentaries, movies and tv programs that are filmed in the amazon and tropical parts of the Mata Atlantica in South America...

I spent some time in the Amazon rainforest. You could hear these guys all day long. I was talking to another person that was with me at the time when one interrupted us from close by. After a short silence he said, "That bird always makes me feel good about myself."

I'm from Venezuela and we have this bird here. I often hear the call of the Screaming Piha in movie soundtracks as a "generic jungle sounds" but I know this bird is only found in the Amazon. So every time I hear it on movies that don't take place in the Amazon I can't help but this "wrong location!"

You can actually communicate with most birds by learning their calls or even just playing recordings of one back (typically works better if you know the sex of the species). No idea what the calls mean, but I've had MANY different occasions where I've called male and female Tawny Owls just with my voice and they've flown over to the tree near where I smoke 😅

I the sound they make. I literally learned to whistle so that I could replicate this sound. I just want to hear running water "jungle sounds" and this bird doing his thing. The Screaming Piha!

Grew up watching documentaries about the Amazon Rainforests on Discovery and National Geographic channel and always wondered what bird made this high pitched sound. It was so interesting to me that I used whistle this sound to call my dogs whenever they wandered away from home in South Asia.
This is my first time seeing this bird. Magnificent!
