I do remember my relief whenThabo Mbeki decided not to let Uncle Sam build a base in South Afrika. And my horror when Ian Khama's successor, Mokgweetsi Masisi opened Botswana to Africom. Next, ISIS - funded by the guys who actually run the USA - was active in Mozambique (as I think is currently the case with the present unest there). Of course we knew the offshore as was te real issue.
