I watched 3 car related YouTube videos today. The first was Doug Demuro in southern California reviewing a $1m Aston Martin Lagonda Taraf. The second was Tyler Hoover of Hoovie's Garage revealing his new Beck Spyder (Porsche 550 replica). And the last was Matt sitting in his car in the rain talking about how life can be tough as a second-hand car salesman on the outskirts of Stockport.
I enjoyed Matt's video the most. Don't get me wrong, I liked all 3, but Matt's honesty and down-to-earth approach had a charm to it that is rare to find on car channels on YouTube. Sure, Matt isn't about to spend 20 minutes discussing the "Quirks & Features" of a car none of us can afford like Doug does, or show us how buying the cheapest [fill in the name of an exotic car here] for sale in the US resulted in many months and many dollars of repairs like Hoovie does, both of which can be entertaining. But Matt's authenticity combined with the accessibility of the cars he reviews makes for compelling watching. It's the same reason a show like Coronation Street is still going strong when Dallas and Dynasty ended many years ago!
