Today we talk about quantum computers that are really good at guessing, room temperature superconductors, again, how we changed the tilt of Earth’s axis without noticing, the environmental impact of the metaverse, a computer chip that mimics the human eye, whether smart drugs actually make you smart, how carbon dioxide emissions look like, flying taxis, an announcement of an announcement, and of course, the telephone will ring.

Your episodes are the perfect balance between news and sarcasm.
I get a chuckle every time.

I'm Australian and its true, I literally have my own city park and beach 80%+ of the time 😁 Air here in Tasmania is so clean I can not imagine how people do not move away from places like New York. I can literally see the milky way almost every other night from my backyard in the city and just out of town the skies are stuff people wait years for up north.

Sabine you are getting better and better at delivering these amazing videos. Not only do you present the news itself in a succinct and clear way, but the humour surrounding it is absolutely spot on. I really love your work! Many other channels could learn so much from you.

3:45 "superconductor meets with resistance" is a brilliant headline

I like how Sabine reminds us of her deterministic universe by starting every video with 'the telephone will ring'.

I like this show a lot it's cool getting updates on the newest science. It's hard to get a good source for the newest stuff for science

Oh Sabine, you're always there when I need an existential crisis to share with my friends and family. Truly appreciated!

Sabine, I love your dry sense of humor and want to thank you again, for all you do here and on other unmentioned platforms. I spend too much time here, learning, but I don't feel guilty, due to my health issues, and the fun! 🙂

I love how watching your show especially when the phone rings it gives me the same nostalgia and excitement when watching science shows as a kid. Extremely engaging and as an educator I can testify how difficult that is.

We are so lucky we can have news presented by experts like Sabine, a few years ago news were presented by people who only knew how to talk in front of a camera, but had no idea what they were talking about

That ending with the 'Onion' reference was pure magic!

You are getting better at this! Your humor is intellectual and thats hard to pull off. When i heard of the subjects you were addressing i thought how can ahe tackle such topics and make them intresting ? Let alone make them humorus, you pleasantly surprised me.

If I could guess, the NANOGrav paper to be announced tomorrow will probably be on primordial gravitational waves (expansion shockwaves) from the early universe. The team compiled about 17 years of pulsar arrays radio signals data to compute gravitational waves that are more sensitive than LIGO or Virgo. I was told this a year ago by one of the physicists working the project. Very informative video as always, Sabine.

Always look forward to your take on new science and observations. Great show.

Knapsack is known in theory of computing for scaling extremely poorly, meaning more work will give you hardly better results. It's also known for resisting "smart" approaches, meaning more work is essentially the only way to improve results. This study has done more to confirm the hardness of knapsack than it has to evaluate drugs. Why didn't they use a standardized test for cognitive performance? Well, the test they *did* pick gives a clue.
