I think the funniest moment for me working in retail was when I realized I've ended up using the same voice and tone with customers that I do when dealing with my cousins... who are toddlers.

My favorite is someone pulling up to a drive thru and asking how much various items are, as if they aren't stopped in front of a massive board that lists all the prices.

Someone was once trying to find their receipt to return something, while rummaging around trying to find it they stop and say to me "What does it look like?"

I couldn't stop myself. "Oh, you know, it's long, white and thin with lots of black text on it. Header at the top"

Then they look at me like I'm being the stupid one 😂

the older customers... omg
had a customer once that needed to return something, but didn't bring a receipt. so i said i need proof that they even bought the item in the store, and they said "i bought it in the store, just search for a visa card. it'll pop up." and i said "you do know that there's hundreds if not thousands of visa cards being used on this system, right?"
