We found a 1966 Porsche 912 race car for sale... will Jolene's dream come true? 🤯

It has always been my (Jolene) dream to own a Porsche... and during Bad Chad's daily search for project cars he came across this 1966 Porsche 912 for sale. It's a former concours winning vintage race car that apparently raced against famous drivers such as Hurley Hawood and Brian Redman. It has since been converted back to a street car but still has the racing steering wheel, roll bar and fuel cell installed. It’s been stored since 2013. We made the venture to come take a look at it in person and see if we can make a deal.. or possibly do some trading💰

There is a ton of literature on the 912 and its power plant and the rust tendencies of these cars. It's worth researching before you do anything with it. It's a great resource. Most other cars do not have such a wealth of information to fall back on. You need not operate in the dark when you are figuring out what to do with it.

I had a 912E. It was like driving a mildly tuned Beetle. I have 3 air-cooled 911s and they are a whole different experience. Has mounts on the shock towers for a Monte Carlo bar. My smuggler's boxes are filled with A/C components. I know these cars inside/out and I have rebuilt several rust buckets. The toughest area to fix, for me, was the rear seat, heel panel and wheelhouse area. The front latch panel, suspension pan, and battery tray are comparatively easy.

I would have Nate put the engine in the front, chop the roof, paint it brown and extend the front and rear tail lights, there would not be one like it in the world. Just having fun which ya pal... nice buy for Jolene.😁

Red paint takes a beating by the sun the sun makes the clear coat blister over time. That's probably why you see tiny bubbles everywhere.

The racing accessories added (crudely) to a vintage German sports car has grossly devalued the car. They don't have the stock parts either.

To come across a mint shape 912, that we only made 5 years would never be cheap and of course the cleaner it is the bigger the dollar to take it home. You want mint, you will need a mint.
