To all those who fear free speech: I disagree with the premiss. When government controls speech, we eventually fall into uncontrolled tyranny. Question: Who is controlling the government. Certainly not the people in modern democracies. Remember this: Politics is downstream from Culture. That is the natural order of things and when a society flourishes best. You have to wonder what is going on when a government is afraid of public discourse; regardless of how you or the government feels or thinks about it. The one idea regarding free speech that is never talked about by the pundits is "MORAL SUASION." When everyone is free to speak, we all get to see who speaks truth and who speaks lies, and the verdict of the majority is the feedback the speakers get. That is the "DEMOCRACY OF FREE SPEECH." When someone posts or says things that go against the values of the majority, they return feedback to the speaker, some or all of which can be "MORAL SUASION." The speaker either sees the light or doubles down. Ultimately, it's the broader society that supports or isolates the speaker. We don't EVER need governments to do it. This power belongs to the people as a whole. Again, politics is downstream from culture. People and culture before government should be in every national constitution.
