E-scooter fire engulfs kitchen in seconds

Dramatic footage of an e-scooter exploding has been released by the London Fire Brigade (LFB) to highlight the risks of charging the vehicles indoors.

The vehicle caught fire after being plugged in inside a house in Brent, northeast London.

If anything, this again highlights the fact that lithium battery packs are highly dangerous. How many times does this have to happen before something is done?
We've had mobile phones exploding in people's pockets, e-cig batteries setting on fire, EV cars going up in flames by the roadside...the list keeps growing.
People are being sold multi-Kw batteries for their homes for energy storage, how long is it going to be before homes start burning down and people are killed in their sleep?
These batteries need to be intrinsically safe, because at the minute they're nowhere near. There needs to be a safety standard that is not crossed.

As A RC Hobbyist lithium batteries are great but pretty volatile and need tons or respect. I have explosion/fire proof bags to charge in for a reason. Also never leave them unattended when charging.
