James Webb Telescope vs Hubble Telescope Images Comparison
Показать описание
This video compares 9 images taken by the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) and the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) highlighting the unique capabilities of each telescope. The JWST set to launch in 2021 is the successor to the HST and is specifically designed to observe distant galaxies stars and exoplanets in infrared light. On the other hand the HST which has been in orbit since 1990 is better suited for studying nearby objects and phenomena such as stellar nurseries and supernovae in visible and ultraviolet light.
As you can see from these images the JWST is able to capture clearer, more detailed images of distant celestial objects than the HST can. The JWST's larger primary mirror and advanced infrared capabilities allow it to peer deeper into space and time than the HST. The HST however has been able to observe objects that the JWST will not be able to, due to its longer time in space and its ability to observe in visible and ultraviolet light.
This video provides a glimpse into the capabilities of both telescopes and shows how they complement each other in our quest to understand the universe. The James Webb Space Telescope will be a major step forward in our ability to observe the universe but the Hubble Space Telescope will continue to be a valuable tool for years to come.
