you can place the fan ontop of the wing and it will have the same effect but better because you can still use the rails

I did essentially the same thing, and the fan goes wayyyy farther than without it. I flew all the way from the launch area in the mountains all the way to the Fuse Shrine because I reached the Ascend Shrine first.
