Are you looking to buy a new home this year? Where?

Back in the day, when I purchased my first home to live-in; that was Miami in the early 1990s, first mortgages with rates of 8 to 9% and 9% to 10% were typical. People will have to accept the possibility that we won't ever return to 3%. If sellers must sell, home prices will have to decline, and lower evaluations will follow. Pretty sure I'm not alone in my chain of thoughts.

I just sold a property in Portland and I'm thinking to put the cash in stocks, I know everyone is saying its ripe enough, but Is this a good time to buy stocks? How long until a full recovery? How are other people in the same market raking in over $200k gains with months, I'm really just confused at this point.

Moving from Oregon to Washington is like moving from Oregon to Oregon.

Great video! For 2023, it’s hard to nail down specific predictions for the housing market is because it’s not yet clear how quickly or how much the Federal Reserve can bring down inflation and borrowing costs without tanking buyer demand for everything from homes to cars.

I sold my New Jersey home 8 years ago. With half the profit of my former New Jersey home. I bought a newer and larger hosenda beachfront home in Costa Rica.🏖 Now my annual property tax is only $525.00 a year! And, I have a daily priceless view of the Pacific Ocean.

"Real estate prices in California can only go down from here." I've lived in Cal for nearly 40 years, and people were saying that >exact< same thing since I first moved here. I swallowed hard, bought a fixer-upper, and worked my way up. You can do it, but it's hard to get started.

the people in idaho are hypocrites, they cry about Californians invading their state, but they have no problem selling their farmland to developers who are building houses etc, this has happened all over the Boise area

Having lived in one of these states, I can attest to how obscenely overpriced they are to live in. It's sad when you make over 100k a year and you still can't afford to buy a house and can barely afford rent on a 1 bedroom apartment.

New Jersey is an expensive state, but it’s also a state that has a lot to offer including great public schools, Healthcare, access to mountains, The Ocean, New York City, and American History, and quaint smaller towns. For such a small state, it has a lot of personality and diversity. South Jersey is quite different from North Jersey also. For raising kids, I would definitely consider many towns in New Jersey or in the middle to north east/New England.

The housing market in HI varies considerably. There's a huge difference between the home prices in Oahu and Maui compared to the Big Island and Kauai.

Real Estate is expensive because of demand. People desire to live in those states. People don't desire to live in Mississippi or Louisiana or Arkansas. That's not going to change much anytime soon.

My parents home just sold for $539, 900. We had a though time selling it for $$60, 000 in 2014 That was Boise Idaho.

I was genuinely shocked to see that Idaho's median home price was higher than NJ....

Hi Briggs. I already own a home and after watching this I feel lucky as hell. Thanks for the heads up and have a great weekend on the ship.

Utah checking in here, and you're 100% right. Way lower pay than most other states, and crazy expensive prices. Lovely place to live though. Also, thanks for saying some positive things about NJ. I loved the years I lived in Hackettstown in the early 90s. Great place to be a preteen/early teen. The whole state gets a bad rap because the first things most people see are Camden or Newark when they're coming from Philly or NYC :(

What I love about Briggs’s channel is that I’ve been watching his videos ever since I was in college and working at Walmart. Now, I’m out of college (looking into getting my doctorate) and I have a stable job that provides enough to give me a proper living. I can finally watch these videos and take Briggs’s advice seriously!

Ugh, I live in California..
Born and raised here, I remember when the houses used to cost 10 to 15 thousand dollars, and back then, I thought, who could ever afford that! Hindsight is 50/50. Wish I would have saved to buy a house back then. 😔😢
