BMI is only inaccurate when it comes to muscle mass; specifically athletes. It’s easy to tell the difference between muscle and fat.

She never said anything about racism. I heard this before and asked someone who's a doctor about this and it's correct. Black bodies are different from white bodies just like a Chinese body type is also very different. Some people here in the comments act like she said black people can't be fat. That's NOT what she said.

Medicine is different for specific ethnic groups. It's common knowledge that Indian people have a higher risk of diabetes, white people are more likely to have cystic fibrosis, black people are more likely to have sickle cell, etc.

Poorer people on average have higher BMI. People of color on average are poorer. Just because an ethic group many have a higher BMI on average does not mean that they have a higher healthy range.

Wow! I must’ve missed the ‘race’ section of BMI charts. How is height and weight racist!?! I have a friend that’s about my height and weight (5’3 125-130) who has no body fat cause she works out and follows a diet. She told me that at her last doctors appointment the doctor told her she was obese according to the BMI chart 🤔🤔 That makes no sense!!

I too am obese according to that chart and I have been able to see my abs for several years now and am very healthy

that bmi index is just trying to take an average of the population it’s not racist that your specific race or genetically similar people are not the average
