As a black woman this is absolutely ridiculous!

Analyzing relationships between fatness and race is itself actually rooted in racism, this lady is racist

Some of the most beautiful women I’ve ever seen were in Kenya, Africa. they were in extremely great shape and they were not large women they were perfectly proportioned.

I completely disagree. I’m 215lbs and I was diagnosed with fatty liver disease this week. I’m TERRIFIED. I’m losing weight IMMEDIATELY and getting back down to 145lbs like I was before. Being overweight is unhealthy, let’s face Now I’m trying to reverse the damage that has been

"No studies show that having a higher bmi directly causes poor health" notice how they phrased that. They are technically right, having a high bmi doesn't cause poor health... it's the result of poor health. You have a high bmi because you don't eat right, exercise, etc. It's like saying a sports team is bad because they have a low average points per game. Yes they have a low average points per game but the problem is they aren't playing well and thats why they don't score. The cause of the problem isn't the low average because that's just a rating system. The problem in this apology is the team itself

“People with high-weight bodies”... what’s with that weird phrasing? It’s like saying your body is heavy, not you. Almost sounds like a supernatural possession situation. 😬

As a black man from Harlem this is the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard, you can choose to be fat you can’t choose your color. Black people weren’t fat in 70’s and there was way more racism.

Imagine having so much hate toward your own race and gender, that you don’t believe others should try to improve their health and well-being.

I say being fat in the U.S. is more of a cultural thing and doesn't have much to do with race. It's so easy and affordable to get take out especially in the city. Also I think it's amount of food we buy or sell that we are mentally fixated on because you can buy a bucket of chicken for $10 or a triple burger for $5.

Comparing "fatphobia" with racism seems racist in itself 💀

When something is racist simply because you think everything is racist. Shocking.

Wait, black people were stereotyped as overtly athletic and now they are stereotyped as fat and overweight?

this is crazy. African women are not fat. I lived in the 70s and 80s, black women were not fat.
Fat today is the result of a less active lifestyle(vs previous generations) eating fast foods regularly/not cooking(vs previous generations) and dealing with loneliness and sadness by eating.

It’s interesting that black women who are _not attracted to white men_ are concerned about what white men find attractive.

By this logic, the “woman’s gaze” is also trying to regulate men’s bodies because woman usually prefer fitter men. This is so biased.

The beauty standard in the victorian era was actually to have a small waist, slender bodies are preferred in all wealthy societies. Plus asian cultures already taught themselves slender preference way before the intervention of the europeans lol.
