Frame-By-Frame Animation with Toon Boom

What Will You Learn in the Course?

In this course I will take you step by step through all the tools and methods for character using Toon Boom Harmony.

Interface:
We’ll start by going over the Toon Boom interface and understand how to work with different display views and how to use the X-sheet like a traditional animator.

Creating Artwork:
We’ll go over different way to import or create artwork for your shot. We’ll learn how to create the outline and the fill for our characters, as well as adding special effects.

Frame-by-Frame Animation:
We’ll start animating our shot with traditional frame-by-frame animation, going through all the steps from planning the key poses, roughing out the animation, clean up and coloring.

Rig a Character:
After we cover the traditional side of 2D animation, we’ll use Harmony’s advanced rigging tools to bone-rig a character using cutout rigs, puppet rigging and deformation. We’ll also see how to set up mouth shapes for automatic lip-syncing.

Finishing a Shot:
Over the course of this program you’ll see how an entire fully-animated shot is produced. We’ll add special effects, camera movement in 3D space and export the final shot in different formats.

As an animator, I’ve designed this course to be tailored specifically for people who want to get into 2D animation in the most professional way.

There’s enough in this course for the person who wants to make cool short animations for YouTube, as well as for the working professional who wants to get hired as a 2D animator.

Toon Boom Harmony is an incredibly robust professional-level animation software, and can do pretty much anything in the realm of 2D animation. Anything from stick figures to Disney-level results. I’ve brought in an amazing 2D animator to take you through this amazing journey, and I truly believe he created one of the best animation courses out there.

I can't wait to be able to use Toon Boom as efficiently as possible. I have such a cool animation project floating around in my head and I absolutely MUST bring it to life!!! It's like 3 minutes max but considering that I'm a pharmacist and picking this up as a hobby it's probably going to take me like two years to learn how to do everything and deliver the final thing. DESK!!!! IT WAS CALLED A DESK ALL THIS TIME?! thank you so much. I have not touched toonboom in 4 years and i remember vaguely using this "desk" technique that i called "unpegging" back then. I use it to InBetween when the two Keyframes are sooo far apart that i fck up some drawing proportions if i didnt unpegg. Its been killing me that i couldnt find the right key word for it all this time, so anything that comes from the search result is anything but. Youre a life saver

Is there a way to disable the feature that auto smooths your lines when sketching in Toon Boom? I've been incredibly frustrated trying to find a way to turn this feature off. It's a massive deal breaker for me. I don't think I can use this software if it's always correcting my strokes.

I just got the trial of this.

I want to take an animation class. I could get a masters in it. But, they teach with maya I think. haha Is that a thing? haha But, something drew me to this.

It is expensive. MAN, is it expensive. But, everything is for good animation. So, I do believe, I will get the full version of this after the trial.

I am excited to learn.

What version of Toon Boom is this?

I did animation long time ago, I am now stuck with Photoshop for FpF animations but this Toon Boom really is looking cool. I would love to try it out and maybe manage to transfer my futre projects to TB. :)
