This Slum will Become a City

I came back to the third largest slum in the world, Dharavi. But this time with exciting news that will change the lives of 1 million people who live there, forever.

Dharavi was a small fishing hamlet a century ago. After 1947, searching for jobs in growing city of Mumbai huge groups of rural people migrated to the city for better life as the then India's new highly centralised Central Government was against Rural Development because our first PM considered villages to cause of India's ruinage opposed to Gandhi.
But everyone's socio-economic conditions weren't fortunate so they settled in the backward areas such as Dharavi and unplanned urbanisation went on several decades to reach in today's condition. There are several issues related to Dharavi redevelopment mainly that more rural people will migrate seeing the betterment of slums and cycle will continue. Without sustainable large scale rural development in terms of economy, HDI, Infrastructure slum development has no meaning.
Anyway I would love betterment of our slums cause I know how worse it is cause there's several slums in my town.
The problem with slums is with more of lack of basic civic & public facilities over income levels.

I once visited a leather jacket store in Dharavi. The owner of the store was so kind to customer make the jacket with my own design and insignia. I have it with me since 15yrs. It is my most prized possession not because of the cost but the effort of the people to make it as per my liking.

One of my uncle, is a part of this project led by Adani Group. He is a software analyst and basically assigned the task of geo-tagging each slum in dharavi using advanced AI models. That's why technology is a boon to mankind

I'm an Indian and I've never seen a slum in my life, I've heard people saying India is full of slums, but never thought 1 million people were living in the slums, this is unbelievable, you definitely gave me the idea of how bad things were. Feeling ashamed of the government cause they have successfully been blind this whole time. I hope there was something I could do to help.
