Wagner boss Prigozhin orders troops to turn back

Wagner boss Yevgeny Prigozhin has issued an audio message confirming his fighters are returning to their bases to "avoid bloodshed".

The move comes after a convoy of his fighters entered the Russian city of Rostov-on-Don in the early hours of this morning, where UK defence intelligence says the city's military headquarters was very likely captured.

This day has just been one of the craziest things ever since the start of the full-scale invasion itself. If Prigozhin has decided to turn back though, this is a bit of a surprise considering his motivation up to this point. Again, something must’ve happened in private communication channels that forced him to turn around. I’m thinking most likely it was the threat of absolute annihilation upon him and his men, rather than him caring about the bloodshed of his troops.

Prigozhin, recently had a good meeting with Putin, thus I wonder if this situation was a set up, that Putin was going to be party to. Prigozhin had been upset that Wagner was going to be legally required to integrate into the Russian Armed forces, so perhaps some of the deal being done was to guarantee Wagner's independence.
