The D&D movie was, IMO, the best film of the year! And it also got stellar reviews from critics and the audiences who actually saw it, alike! Also, it's been killing as a release on streaming. I have a feeling it will go on to become a real cult classic, similar to such films from the past that flew under the radar during their theatrical runs, but who became extremely popular on DVD and home video.

D&D was amazing, honestly one of the best action/adventure movies made in over a decade. Renfield was funny and brutal, all while pretty entertaining.

Post-Covid, a lot of people are used to seeing things on streaming and don't mind waiting a few weeks. Movies have to show you up front that it's worth the money and hassle of a theater now. For Flash, they let too many spoilers about cameos out too early - so it looks like a movie made of cameos - none of which are surprising, then Gunn comes out and says "none of it matters cause we are starting over." So why wouldn't you wait to stream it on Max? The answer really is - make unique/better movies that make people say "You've got to see this NOW"

The biggest issue is how quickly movies make their way online. Used to be we'd have to wait 6 months for a movie to come to DVD and then another few months before it would come to the movie channels. Now it can be less than 2 months before we can just stream a movie.

I feel bad for Renfield, I really enjoyed this movie. It was funny and action packed. Nick Cage kills it as Dracula, it was also a role he had dreamed of playing for years

Dungeons and Dragons honor among thieves was the best movie I saw this year! It made me want to join a D&D campaign with friends, so I don't consider it at all a failure.

One of the biggest problems that D&D faced was Hasbro, the company that owns rights to the game, came out with several decisions that alienated their fanbase, which pissed many of them off to the point of not supporting the movie. It's actually quite entertaining and I would definitely support sequels of it if ever they came out.

My wife took me to see The Flash in theaters for my birthday. This was the first time I had been in a theater post-covid. I will say I thought it was a great movie, but I've always been a sucker for anything Flashpoint. I also had no knowledge of anything dealing with Ezra Miller going into it, I just wanted to see it because of my wife's kind gesture, and I'm a DC comic fan over Marvel.

Dungeons and Dragons still deserve a sequel!

I think there are multiple reasons behind all these flops. 2023 has been crazy so far. 1) Streaming has become so mainstream that a lot of people are cutting cable in favor of streaming, this means that they likely never see any advertisements for the movies or they simply want to wait it out until they can see it at home to save money 2) Cost of living has gotten so expensive that a lot of people don't have that extra money to go and enjoy a night out like they used to. 3) Superhero fatigue is definitely starting to creep in and I think Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 did so well because it was the end of that series and people wanted to see it through.

It's a theory, but I think that it is very difficult for movies in theaters to collect the investment since now people prefer to wait for a movie that slightly catches their attention to come out on Streaming

Barbie, Oppenheimer, Mission Impossible and Sound of Freedom showing at the same time has been the first real push for movie-goers to make it to the theaters since the beginning of covid. Every other movie before June of this year back to 2019 has been a victim of circumstance. I'm glad to see the big screen making a comeback. Top Gun Maverick was a precursor and an amazing movie. Hopefully I'm not the only one wanting the box office to thrive as it did once before.

D&D Honor Among Thieves may not have been a big hit in the theaters, but it was extremely well received and probably one of the best movies I've seen this whole year.

This post-covid era is hitting hard on Hollywood

Not even nostalgia can help them

One of the biggest factors is not just having a good movie, but one people are more than willing to go back and watch again in theaters. The best example of this is Spider-Man: Across the Spiderverse. The amount of time, emotion, and attention to detail is immense, all working in its favor for people to go back and watch a second, or even third time to pick out the details they might have missed before.

It’s a shame about D&D, it was a good movie and deserves some appreciation

I missed D&D in the theatre, but I did pick it up on Blu-ray. It's fantastic. I never get tired of the humor and cast. Come on, a fat dragon. Whoever thought that one up deserves an Oscar.
