Thank you all for this video! I'm currently applying to an accelerated MSN program and pursuing a DNP afterwards. I already have a bachelor's and master's and was headed for a PhD. Decided that nursing was an excellent field to complete my doctorate in instead and in less time! You all definitely provided great tips for all things I've considered.

Are there many people who go straight from a BSN program to an MSN program? My end goal is to practice as a forensic nurse, but my parents (who are helping to pay the bills, so their opinion is important) are wary of that option because it is so new and they don't see the same value in it that I do. They would like for me to become a nurse practitioner, which I would be interested in as well... if I could also concentrate in forensics and practice that way. Do y'all know much about forensic nursing or what masters program may feed best into that role? If you become a family NP, are you restricted to private family settings, or could you still work in a hospital in other ways? (I wouldn't want to specialize as an NP and then find that I couldn't also specialize in SANE nursing or forensics). Finally, there are masters programs that concentrate on forensics - which would be my first choice definitely - so as far as pay goes, will any masters program increase salary fairly significantly? Or does it depend? Again, not the most important thing to me, but any argument point that will help to sway my parents is important. Sorry for all the questions, but you two seem very knowledgeable, and its so difficult to figure everything out when people expect you to search their websites and send you links instead of talking to you about their own opinions and experiences.

I'm currently trying to decide which MSN program is right for me. I have health issues and my family life with small children. I would like to keep working as a nurse but not bedside or direct patient care. I really love research and computers. I also like to teach. What degree's would you recommend?

Really appreciated the info you both shared. I’m an RN with my BSN and a MW in my home country but my MW credentials is not recognized here in the US. I’m looking to get my MSN and looking for something affordable, online and not just accredited but recognized for quality degrees. I want to do the MW track but a lot of schools offer this with a DNP track. I just want to be with mom and baby perinatally (if that’s a word) I want to manage in this type of pt care with more autonomy than just the L&D nurse I am currently. In need of some professional advice anyone…?🥺 TIA🫶🏽
