Whatever your reasoning may be switching your kernel in Arch Linux is actually a fairly easy process. All we need to do is make sure the proper kernel is installed on your system and config grub to easily utilize that new kernel.

Just an small addition to this. This was done in a virtual box but people with nvidia proprietary drivers may not be able to boot into GUI and maybe stuck at the starting arch. The easy way to fix this is switch to consol via Alt+F1, F2, F3 etc. Then install linux-zen-headers via sudo pacman -S linux-zen-headers then install the nvidia proprietary drivers again via sudo pacman -S nvidia-dkms. Followed by a reboot. This should solve the problem (it solved mine).

More fabulous Linux info. I've been using Linux for about 2 months, it's the best move I've ever made. I'm learning more & more every week thanks to channels like this. I'm now using an openbox distro, it's blown me away

Thanks buddy, i could not get this done without your help. Compiling kernels manually is really hard. The documentation can also be very confusing.

My dude using Cinnamon on Endeavour. When I First installed Arch, I used Cinnamon. I later switched to KDE Plasma because I wanted more features. Good to see Cinnamon getting some use outside of Linux Mint.

Hi everyone, how can I get the current name of the kernel type by command? (like Stable, Hardened, LTS, Zen...)

The Zen versions also is compatible with Debian based distoes. I will give it a try. Ubuntu also have those "low-latency" type of kerners. Mac OS seems to have their OS done like that by default to appear smooth to use.

The manjaro application for switching kernels has stopped listing the Zen kernel since roughly the start of 2022.

As I operate a dual-boot system, there are instances when I need to boot into the Windows operating system. So, I modified the /etc/default/grub by setting the value of GRUB_DEFAULT= '1>Arch Linux, with Linux linux', since Linux submenu is always second, normal linux becomes the default kernel for booting. This way, I can conveniently boot the wanted kernel without manual intervention during system startup.

I run zen kernel. Mostly for the ACS patch baked in. Makes it real convenient so I don't have to compile my own kernel.

I'm on garuda. 5.15 breaks my rtl8812au wifi. Reverting to 5.14 fixes the issue but now it's constantly bickering me because i've done a partial update, meaning i updated the other stuffs but not the kernel. I tried to install 5.10 lts kernel but oddly my wifi don't work on that one too. Is there anything i missed? how come my wifi won't work on 5.10? do i need to remove and reinstall the wifi driver again on 5.10?
