Bone Grafting for Dental Implants
Dental bone grafting is a crucial step for many patients before getting dental implants. But what exactly is it and why is it necessary?

When you lose an adult tooth, the jawbone in that area can start to deteriorate. This happens because the bone is no longer stimulated by the tooth root. To prevent further bone loss and to prepare for a dental implant, a dentist may perform a bone graft. In this procedure, the dentist fills the cavity with a synthetic material that mimics real bone. Once the area is filled, they secure a metal bracket on top and close the incision.

After the graft has healed, which can take several months, a dental implant post is inserted into the new bone. This is followed by attaching a small metal piece and securing a porcelain tooth on top, restoring both function and appearance.

This is why implant cost goes high.. bone graft and membrane etc. usually 8/10 times you don’t need bone graft. I would just place implant immediately after extraction and let it heal with your natural hard and soft tissue. Never had problems. I am a dentist by the way and I have placed implants for many years.

Yes, it is expensive, but Japan is now conducting experiments on making an injection that regrows a lost tooth. It has currently been successful on animals, and humans may begin using it in 2030.

I lost my teeth due to horrific domestic violence, i have no top teeth only a denture that i cant even eat wbile i have it in . I have no bottom teeth and have no denture. I cant eat anything thats not easy to mash up . I see a constant reminder of what my ex stole from me . I would love screw ins but i would never ever ever spend the amount it costs for them on myself. I avoid talking in public . I have zero confidence. and i pray one day, i may be blessed enough with the ability to eat normally and be able to talk in public without anxiety and shame . I pray to god he hears my prays. People please pray for me ❤❤

Pray you’ll never need an implant. It’s a long process that involves a ton of Novocain shots, hammers and chisels, constant slicing open of the gums, stitches and healing. Some people might say it’s not all that bad, but when I got the bone graft, the oral surgeon hammered it to my jawbone and then used a tool with a small, smooth round ball at the end of it and he pressed it with his body weight against my jaw. I could feel my jaw bending. I was just waitin for that shit to snap. Luckily I was suckin on nitrous. lol. Shit sucked.

Yeah, they don’t do that when you have medical assistance they don’t even fill it. They just ripped the tooth out then tell you to have a nice day. 99.9% of the time you’re not even offered Sedation anesthesia with Nitrous oxide or laughing gas Local Anesthesia to numb the general region of the extraction. It’s awesome, especially when you have the most fear/ anxiety when seeing a dentist.

, the intricate neural, developmental, and functional links between the maxillofacial complex and the brain mean that dental/oral issues can absolutely have impacts on brain activity, cognition, and even spiritual/intuitive faculties in some cases.

Im 63 and lost a molar while in high school (late 70s).
There's deterioration but I brush, floss, regular dental visits.

Dentist and I decided (over 30 yrs ago) to leave wisdom tooth next to back molar for support.

Not in the UK they dont. Yank the tooth, tell us to bite on some gauze until it stops bleeding then let the bone deteriorate.

It’s too costly in USA. Such a small procedure. Dentists are printing money.

I've had two implants done. Both molar replacement. If you can afford it, it's well worth it. Yes, it's expensive, and takes time. Each implant took about 6-8 months from start to finish. I'm very happy with results after all said and done. It's the best option for the look and feel of a natural tooth replacement.

I know someone who has implants and they are happy, not painful at all. Better than dentures...

Japan just started human trials
For regrowing teeth, they had excellent results in the animal trials .
According to the scientists on the project it should be cheaper than implant..
Of course we are in America so probably triple😂

They also have another experiment doing well in trials .it lets you regrow part of your tooth and enamel. There again scientists involved
Swear it'll be cheaper than root canal

Such amazing technology In denistry today. So expensive though. Maybe in time,
costs will come down like all things new. They are replaced with less costly materials.

Side note: I could’ve done without the sound effects, like getting your foot stuck in mud. Squishhhh! Ha! 😂 but great video!
