In this video, we cover the one MAIN problem we wee that is limiting the power most players are getting on their overheads. We'll show you what this is, why to stop doing it, and what to do instead. If you can master this move, your overheads will become much more dominating and keep your opponents scrambling and unable to get back in the point once they've popped it up.

Aloha Nicole...Very specific hand position and motion! Thanks so much!

Good video and technique. I think the grip explanation would be better showing a picture of the handle and talking about what bevel to have index finger knuckle on. Thanks!

I finally have an idea why my overheads were weak. I was using the eastern grip. Thankyou

This is fantastic info. Thanks! Do you have a video where you describe different grips and when to use them?

great thought about using forearm and wrist for power. I have an injured tight shoulder and it's hard to get power and fluidity from my shoulder. I'm going to try your teaching and power from forearm and wrist! thx!

It is a fundamental of tennis' overhead... You have to commit with the full back swing going up, with elbow straight, pronation, and add wrist power at the point of impact..follow through downward..

good point...however I keep hearing over and over what "not to do"... maybe more of what "to do"? thanks :)

Well done, Nicole.

Simple, one step at a time. The mechanics are critical, and you described them well. As I came from a squash background, some things in the game, which are more tennis oriented are a little harder to grasp.

Another stroke that is difficult for me is the backhand slice, which I hope you will do another time.

Are you supposed to change your grip in the middle of a rally?

For those simple pop ups where we just have to snap our wrist down on the ball, do you also recommend hitting these in continental or is the eastern forehand grip ok for this simple smash?

hi. I wanted to say thank you for previous replies to my questions (on other videos). I was wondering do you have any recommendations on where you want to direct the overhead smash if both opponents are at the net. I found lately my aim is getting sloppier and I'm almost hitting the person at the net. other than hitting down the middle, are there good alternatives for trying to put away the ball and yet not hitting the other people? thanks.

Good explanation. Can I apply this to an overhead for tennis? Thanks.

Great overhead tip.
Question: u always have a basket full of balls. Can u tell me the kind u use for practice? Any suggestion to build my inventory of balls for myself. Thanks

Watched three times and still can’t get the grip explanation. Maybe a tighter camera shot would have helped.

Attention, Hello Nicole, I watch your videos a lot, but this one is not correct on several technical points and leads people in the wrong direction.
It would be good to do it again. Robert

The proprietory 23 degree grip of th new ProXr paddles automatically put your hand in this position.

Grip or pronating wont help if one throws like a "girl" to begin with. Its the rotator cuff that starts a decent overhead then the pronation follow through. Its the rotator cuff that turns the raquet into pronantion the grip is secondary.

Throws like a girl! Wow. What kind of comment is that? She was just tried to demonstrate the technique.
