When I was small and still living in Niigata, there was a power outage in our area. My mom was in the shower, and I was really scared with my brother. Then came Yuki Onna. But when the lights turned back on, it was my mom, soaked wet from the shower. It was the scariest moment in my life, and still to this day traumatizes me...

"if you give her cold water, she bloats up like a sexy blow fish"
This is now my favorite sentence

I love it when people work in the sponsorship so well with the video.

I'm guessing there's a lot of weirdos in Japan that dressed up as yokai to scare away jerk samurai tax collectors. Sounds like a fun lifestyle, living in the wilderness as a professional scarescrow.

I always found snow-themed mythical creatures like ice monsters, yettis, snow golems, frost giants, and yuki-ona to be really cool for some reason.

These sponsorships are getting really creative and I’m here for it

So many yokai use babies as traps that I feel like ancient Japan had a baby phobia. 🤣

But Linfamy, why kill the poor Yuki-Onna? You could've made a collab!

Love the creativity of the sponsor!

Yuki Onna is like the Poison Ivy of Japanese myths but she has the power of Mr. Freeze.

Akira Kurosawa's movie The Dreams also had a Yuki Onna inspired character: the scene where tired travelers on a snowy mountain top succumb to a lullaby sung by a woman dressed in white. Her song is very haunting...

Hey linfamy didn't it occur to you that if you just let the yuki onna takeover your sponsorship she would have turned to gold. You passed up the opportunity of a lifetime

Linfamy: Yuki Onna saved me from starving!

Gotta, uh “love” how one of the stories is basically just “That time the snow lady’s husband kept insisting she kill herself, and when he sees her slowly melting corpse doesn’t make the connection”

"A woman was his downfall; a woman glimpsed from atop the Wall, with skin as white as the moon and eyes like blue stars. Fearing nothing, he chased her and caught her and loved her, though her skin was cold as ice, and when he gave his seed to her he gave his soul as well. He brought her back to the Nightfort and proclaimed her a queen and himself her king, and with strange sorceries he bound his Sworn Brothers to his will."
—Bran Stark recalling Old Nan's stories, A Storm of Swords, Chapter 56, Bran IV.

The Pokémon Froslass appears to be inspired by the Yuki-Onna: its body is made of ice, so it's white and transparent, only females exist, and it's ice/ghost-type.

Everyone: The moon princess looks like Sailor Moon!

Me who knows the character from the cover and seeing the blue kimono: Shiranui?? Isn't that Shiranui from Onmyoji???

Ps: The woman from the cover is called „Frosty Yuki Onna“ and is also from the game Onmyoji. Great game!

Ahhhh I remember hearing about this one! I used to get neat little cards in the mail about all kinds of different things in the world, ranging from myths to dinosaurs to real animals. I LOVED the Yuki Onna card. It wound up influencing my pokemon nicknaming! I was olayin through diamond and evolved a snorunt to a froslass that got the nickname Yuki Onna. Still have that froslass too! Took it with me all the way to pokemon moon.

You left out the most important features in many Yuki-Onna legends. A: They have small noses. B: They like to smoke out of rustic pipes. C: They often use dark mascara.
That's right. They have corn cob pipes and button nose and two eyes made up with Kohl.
Also known to wear top hats which are magical.

I love Yuki onna she is one of my favorite yokai. Also that sponsorship was probably the best I've seen.
