Context: an urban legend in the Philippines; the Manananggal. Simply put, it can split its body in half with the lower body going in a safe place to hide and the upper body flying through the night sky to digest babies. It has a long, slim toungue that it slips through roof cracks as it inserts the toungue through the belly button of a pregnant woman to suck the fetus and digest it through the toungue. There's no way to stop it, but it's weakness is the lower half. If you find it, you can put salt on it, light it on fire, or just destroy it in any way to kill the Manananggal as it's upper half is known as immortal. They occasionally also eat whole things such as pets or people. Usually the baby though. That's how the story is usually retold. Yet damaging its lower half is dangerous as the Manananggal still knows where their lower half is, therefore, knowing where you are. Manananggal in English also means "Remover" as a person.
