Democrats and Republicans adjust to President Biden dropping out

Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) — Reaction is running high to a historic shift in American politics after President Joe Biden announced he will not seek reelection, bowing out of the race for the White House.
As Democratic leaders are voicing their support for Vice President Kamala Harris, one local Republican leader is arguing that Biden's sudden withdrawal is anti-Democratic.
Congressman Joe Morelle, who represents Monroe County and the northeast portion of Orleans County in New York's 25th congressional district, is praising Biden's decision.
"I believe it is most prudent to turn our attention to the forward and decide on the future we want for our nation and for our families," Morelle said. "I believe this future starts with Kamala Harris and the Democratic nominee for president."
Morelle believes Biden's withdrawal exemplifies a commitment to Democratic principles.
However, Reilly said the Democratic party is silencing the primary voters and forcing Biden off the ticket.
"We've seen the decline of Joe Biden on television going back some time now. It's really not a surprise they made this change," Reilly explained. "I think Kamala Harris was always going to be that first person they go to if this ended up, but I would not say this decision is final. There are notably several key Democrats who have not yet come out supporting her."
