How to use Casting Cannon for Surf Fishing

This video will explain how I set up Casting Cannons on my Surf rods. I will demonstrate how to install and how I use Casting Cannons. I have installed Casting Cannons on almost all of my rods for several reasons, the two largest benefits are casting strength/distance and they prevent finger lacerations on my casting finger as a result of thin braid and heavy sinkers.

If you decide to use Casting Cannons, you will need to practice when to release the trigger for the optimum cast. Once the line is secured to the casting cannon, open the bail. Be sure to release the trigger during the cast. If you forget to release the trigger, or the bail closes during your cast, you could damage your rod and/or lose your leader & rig. I defiantly think the Casting Cannons help me cast while preventing finger lacerations. Can't recommend them enough! Good luck.

I use a pair of gardening gloves with rubber tips. No lacerations and better control. I tried the bionic finger and It's hard to get a good cast with it.

Don't need 4 to 5 wraps.. 1 or 2 is fine... been using them in SA for years before this video

You do not need this device, all you need is just to cut an old bicycle tube that goes inside the tyres and that feet into your finger so that you can use it to protect your finger, is free and you can never replace what your hand can do because you can still feel the line when exactly let it go!!!! I tried both method and the old biycle tube is still the best and free!!!!

Try using One turn around cannon for light casting weights; and Two wrap arounds for heavier weights!

Trying to understand what the real "benefits" are of this. It doesn't do anything more than hold the line like you do with the tip of your index finger when casting normally. So you use your thumb to hold a mechanical release device? Why not just use the line release that you were born with? It's called the tip of your index finger? Am I missing something here?

I dont think i woul dlike all that fenagleing just to cast a line out. id hold this with your other hand, twist this, wrap that, still holding something before youcast ....jeez, just cast the damn thing.
