January 7th 2014 was the deadly extreme cold and the dangerous wind chills
caused by the polar vortex not the snow by the way 2014 was the first time we heard the term polar vortex dangerous wind chills at -15 to -20 below zero if you think that’s dangerous in the midwest that year they got -40 to -50 below zero wind chills or -60 below zero or lower wind chills so schools in the midwest where closed for sure and the cold was much more dangerous there then it was in this area Fairfax county closed down schools on January 7th 2014 because of temperatures in the single digits and wind chills at 10 to 15 below zero because they said it was dangerous for kids to stand out at the bus stop and walk to school even in those temperatures but we had safer temperatures compared to the midwest where temperatures were at 20 below zero and wind chills at 60-70 below zero
