The curent MK5 kukri being issued to the Gurkhas these days are not the best Khukuri that have been issued or used by these mighty men of valor.
Among my favorite khukuri's of history in BSI range is what I classify as "The Cold War Era Khukuri" MK5 BSI pattern which first appeared sometime in the early 1950s and variations of this pattern continued up to the early 1990s. This is a augmented design I came up with to fit a highly useful tool nitch in todays khukuri market. The Mustang MK5 Work Horse has a hollow ground 11.5 inch blade to reduce weight and keep it strong and durable. I have a BSI that I purchased from GGK that is also very good quality with the hollow forged blade. In my opinion you can't go wrong with that kukri.
