"False promise to marry" is a problematic law. This whole concept is odd. Its not as if people buy marriage with a cash called "sex." People have sex for pleasure, women included.
Once the woman willingly consented for sex, how does "promise for marriage" matter?

Hey.. here's a case..
A relative of mine died of a heart attack 3 week ago... in front of society, he was married and has a wife with 2 kids... turns out.. this was his 2nd marriage and he was secretly married to another woman for even longer...

Here's the crazy part, the father knew about his sons first marriage but didn't approve of it... made his son marry again... so now they are both suing him... course of action?

What if the inducement to give employment and promise is not fake.

I think the whole idea that a girl is agreeing to have sex with a person just because he/she promised to marry them, itself is so wrong at the part of the girl because its her who is the MAIN CULPRIT. As she gave her consent to have sex only and only if the person was going to marry them. She was the one who who had her selfish motives. The person giving her a false promise never forced her for it and rather took her consent which she happily gave just because her own motives and goals were being fulfilled at that time. ( If he/she did force her for it then they need to be punished). What are the thoughts of other people ??

Suppose I'm in a relationship where we've been intimate, and I promised to marry my partner. However, if she cheats on me, can I legally refuse to marry her, and what consequences might I face?

BNS 69 is nothing to worry about. She will have to establish the fact that you never intended to marry in the first place. It applies in cases where men are already married and then try to have sex with someone after telling that they will marry them. It also applies when say, you tell a girl you will marry her but then tell your friends that you lied to have sex (then this can be used as evidence for false promise to marry).

But let's say you date a girl thinking that you will marry her. You will have sex over the course of the next few days. Then one day, she does something horrible (like cheat on you) and you break up. Or maybe you meet someone else, so you break up!

In this case BNS 69 won't apply and you are safe!

This happened exactly in our home. Ex wife brother guarantee ex husband that her sister marry again. The ex husband done whatever he said to him. Ex husband stayed near the city of ex wife for 1 year. As said by ex wife brother . But even after 1 year marriage never happened.

Consent by fraud is deceitful consent but consent nevertheless. The accused should be tried like in fraud case and not rape case.

If any false marriage promise happened before the July 2024 will it be considered as in ipc 376 or will come under 69
