I really appreciate you making this video! I was diagnosed Type 2 about 3 months ago and it has been quite the learning curve! I go for my first A1C since diagnosis next week and I hope it's going to be good! My finger stick tests are good but I'm not sure how that A1C will be! Hearing your story is helpful and keep up the good work in managing your diabetes!

Dawn effect has my bg climbing-up to 200, but then my bg drops my dinner time…. I’m diagnosed type 2 and doing carnivore, and I’m wondering if I’m actually 1.5….my hba1c has slowly been rising too ( now 7.4) what tests should I have?

Would if be possible to be negativo for the islet cell antibodies and gad-65 but still be lada? My dr told me I don’t for for type 2, I was tested for lada and type 1 and came negative, so I got the full test for mody and negative.. now we are digging a little more into lada and testing again 😢
Could it be that it shows negative and develop overtime?
Also.. does metformin works for lada?

I was diagnosed with Lada at 21 years old.

Good for you for helping raise awareness. Type 2 here, and I agree you have to seek out help. It's mindboggling how poor diabetes education is with some health plans and how short term thinking some of the insurance decisions are.

My understanding is that LADA is an autoimmune attack on the Islet cells of the Pancreas exactly like T1 usually diagnosed in childhood where the child tends to crash and burn (DKA) within weeks or maybe months of symptoms. With us over 40s it takes months to years so it takes hold at a much slower rate than in children. I could control my LADA on the whole with diet (and the odd injection of Fiasp when I wanted to eat carbs) for 2.5 years after diagnosis but I could see my numbers creeping up so I’ve been using Glargine for 2 months to keep my numbers down. Thank you for your video and your personal take on the LADA journey! I have to say I work on the wards of a paediatric hospital and see children admitted commonly for T1. I don’t like having it of course but it’s hugely rougher for a child to be diagnosed with this.

Like you say it’s very common at an older age or a higher BMI to be diagnosed as T2 but it’s also about Ketones. T2 diabetics very rarely make Ketones (@ diagnosis my BG 12.3 mmol and I was slim which was why my GP tested for ketones… they were 2.8 and the norm is 0.5)

I am looking into this. My weight is normal and I have battled glucose issues since my thirties. Diabetes is in my dad's side of the family. Mine have jumped up even though I have started running. Keto didn't bring mine down. I am always in the 130S it is so frustrating. Thank you for this video

Just got diagnosed with LADA, but I'm on medication only for now. However, I'm not sure if the medication is the right one or if there's a better option. Thank you for sharing your story.

Dr. Brook Goldner - goodbye Lupas- helps with all autoimmune conditions. Information free online. I am 58 years old and just diagnosed with type 1.5 diabetes this past January. I have incorporated her program about 80 % of the time. I am not normal yet but not taking meds or insulin. Fasting blood glucose went down from 286 to 117 and A 1 C greater than 14 to 7. I will continue her program.

I have read that dairy proteins, especially A1 or pasteurized dairy proteins can trigger autoimmune diabetes. Did you consume any dairy growing up?

I am suspecting that I have type 1.5 because my blood sugar won't go down even on a high protein, high fiber, low carb diet. It can stay at 117 to 123 mg/dL for at least 7 hours.

I do have family history of autoimmune disease as my mother suffers from this rare one called IgG4-related disease.

I also diagnosed as T2D at age of 20 with HbA1c 6.8 and FBS 144. I was overweight when I first diagnosed but suddenly loose weight. I didn't take medicine and try to manage it with diet and exercise. My blood glucose were slightly higher than normal but HbA1c was decreasing for last 3 year. Recently I tested my C-peptide and it was 0.56 nmol/L which is intermediate level and GAD65 antibody is negative. Doctor said it is LADA and prescribed to take insulin glargine now . Now I confused How my GADA-65 is -ve as LADA is autoimmune?

Hi, thank you so much for this video, it has really helped me 🙏
I am so sorry you were diagnosed with this, it sucks, but I am glad you have found a better way to deal with it and are looking after yourself.
I was just diagnosed with LADA by chance, failed my pregnancy glucose test so badly, that my doctor said that's already full on diabetes, not Gestational diabetes. Luckily they decided to test me for antibodies too, even though they were sure it's gonna be type 2, aaand, it was LADA. But in a super early stage, I don't have any symptoms, still have lots of beta cells, so am producing lots of insulin, my a1c is 5.1 🤷🏻‍♀️
The endo said she doesn't know how long it will take until I will need insulin, I guess she had never diagnosed anybody at such an early stage.
Could you tell me maybe the facebook group? It would help me a lot in understanding what to do, I found several groups, am not sure which one it is....
And I wish you the best, I hope there will be more advances in tech and science to make it easier for diabetics to deal with this 🙏
