We have an EOS. TSI. Kept the seals lubricated and hardly any water ingress. Not a drip in the boot. Looked after they’re great cars. Never an issue with the roof and had it 7 years now. All comes down to looking after the car, it will then look after you. Great video.

Pro tip - you need to keep the roof seals lubricated with a product called Gummi Pflege and ensure all the roof drains are empty and free from debris. That way, you'll ensure your roof keeps water tight and working like new.

Cheers

That had a lot of kit for a VW of that era (when the feckin steering wheel was an optional extra). But the usual suspects haunted it, clutch/flywheel, rust coming on and roof not working Definitely no surprises and as the engine and box are good you're right, absolutely one for a DIY guy. Thanks for taking the time to put this content out. You make it funny, punchy and the editing is great.

Always liked the look of these, I've got a feeling they're niche enough to be a future classic, they're really nice looking cars.

I'm not sure if I'm the only one, but I prefer the video having a handheld camera than a second person, so it feels more authentic and can have a closer look at the car. Either way quality video, hope to see more

Love your honesty with regard to the way you view yourself. It's expressed with humility and a sense of humor; both great character traits. Love it!

As a cameraman I’m really enjoying the new improved production values. I’ve always enjoyed your presenting style and now the technical stuff is sharp too. The result is so much more watchable than some mainstream tv car programs! Keep going 👏🏻

Ive just bought a 2006
2litre sport diesel, 1 owner from new, full service history, new clutch, new stainless exhaust, and a yearly stamp for roof service, no leaks 97k, and an absolute minter. 2k she cost me, im gunna keep her 4 life, shes brilliant. You must have been unlucky never to have had a good one. I love mine

I had an EOS I’m the exact same spec but grey. Gave it everything it needed and more. Loved it but they do need to be taken care of especially that roof. Broke my heart to see one like this

I've had my 2008 Eos for 14 years. It has over 200, 000 miles and doesn't owe me a dime. I love it and wish they still made them.

My tip for water leaks. The seals can stick against their mating surfaces and enable leaks. The seals from the factory have a long lasting coating applied which allows the seals to slip against their mating surface but often the rubber seals and bodywork have become dusty and dry for lack of attention, they bind and do not seal well. Try partial opening of the roof and clean and apply something like Armor all protectant for vinyl and rubber to the seal and the metal body mating surface. You would be surprised how often this works. Try it on door seals to keep away water which can freeze in Winter making door opening difficult. Try it on tailgates too, especially if there is a leak, which some tailgate profiles are prone to. Remember clean dusty surfaces of the seal and mating surface first then apply protectant with a piece of sponge. It costs little and does a lot of good and may just save a leaking car.

Some people don't look after cars because they don't understand. I always like to look after my vehicles regardless of price

Great video ! All I can say, if you take care of car it goes smooth .. I bought one for my wife and besides regular usual services and it runs smoothly. Mine is 2007 2.0fsi , same Color same interior.. currently doing 226k km and last two mot’s went without any questions. I guess it’s also something to do with uk weather … These cars there are in bad shape usually. Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪!

I bought my daughter an eos as a step up from a micra.

Same issue with the sunroof just needed a squirt of wd40 in the tracks above the doors. I'd wager the roof is siliconed closed.

You rightly said...the interior and door cards are easily £500. The engine another fair bit. Then it's scrap so you'll get your money back

I had a petrol turbo one of these many years ago, didn't have any issues with it apart from being called a hairdresser all the time, and it did burn quite a lot of oil.
Good video 😃

I've always been amazed by why anyone would want a diesel convertible. Like following a fork lift truck with the roof down.

Sad to read so many negative stories about the EOS... I have had a 2008 2.0 TDi DSG Sport gor the last 8 yrs and it's been one of the most reliable cars I've ever owned. It's done 123, 500 miles always serviced, with a high spec and a roof that has never let me down. It just sailed through its recent MOT as it has done the last few. I live in Devon so the roof is up and down all the time. It drives like it did the day I bought it... I guess I've just been lucky, or maybe I've just looked after mine
