You would think when you put your ssn on the form it would rule out any common last name issue 🤔

I just got delayed 30min ago for a firearm that I need for my job....tomorrow. This is my 1st firearm purchase and I'm heated. Squeaky clean record and prior service with an honorable discharge. Very frustrating to say the least

Annoying part is if you use your SSN once it should avoid delays for later purchases but it doesnt.

None of these apply and still managed to get delayed. They have my god damn SSN, run it.

That happens to me all the time. I'm former military and held a significant clearance. It's rather obnoxious

The weird thing about being delayed is one time you can go in and get a proceed, a week later go to buy one and it's delayed. It's very annoying they obviously know I'm not prohibited since I just bought a gun a week ago. Sure you can file an appeal with the FBI but they're not processing them actually I think there's a lawsuit right now because of this very issue.

I lived in Puerto Rico most of my life. As soon as I moved to Arizona, went and got a Glock and did not get delayed. Got a ar 15 lower a few months later and no delay. Last two I have done, a pistol and a lower today, delayed. Not sure why. It's super annoying.

I am a retired L.E.O. I get delayed every time. I am currently applying for VAF through the FBI to see if it straightens this out. I have lived in Kansas my whole life. I should find ou about sometime next year! Love the efficacy of federal government!

I ALWAYS got delayed until I renewed my CPL a few years ago. It usually cleared within 3-5 days with a proceed. I was actually shocked when I bought a handgun in 2018 and was able to walk out with it (before the most recent round of gun laws in my state)

I just moved from California to Nevada. Made a gun purchase and got delayed.

Jeez, when I get my first gun I better not have to deal with this bullshit. I don’t fall in any of the categories you mentioned. But I am on the spectrum, and I BETTER NOT get delayed for that.

That was helpful, thank you for that. FWIW, I tried to buy a .22 today and got delayed, but so did 2-3 others (IN MARYLAND). My guess is because so many background checks overwhelmed their system. Hopefully it goes through some time next week.

You can add number 6 to your list.If you are on a legal "Non immigrant" status such us TN, H1B .etc.you will be delayed as well.I was delayed 3 times because of this.On top of that some FFL dealers don't know those legal statuses are allowed to purchase fire arms so when someone tries to buy a gun they hesitate at first when it comes to fill in the NICS application form. They ask for some documents which are not required by law such as 90 days of recent address, Utility bill statements.

I was stationed in San Diego when I was in the Corps, and was just delayed (honorable discharge, clean record since). Weird and doesn’t make sense, but I understand now.
