This is what happens when legislators are allowed to have financial stakes in the success of major corporate industries and when wealthy donors can buy off lawmakers with campaign contributions and PAC money. When major, serious, sweeping reforms and social assistance is required, those legislators will cause a deadlock by putting their wallets and positions of power ahead of everything else.
