As an Orlando based OneWorld frequent flyer, I personally loved the AA - JB alliance, it offered a lot more connection options getting in and out of Orlando, especially for International destinations. Sorry to see it go.

More Qantas drama - once a great air carrier.

The thing is, even if AA wins the appeal, Jetblue wouldn’t rejoin the alliance because of merger. However, AA can hold them responsible for some financial reimbursement

Well the thing with NK, B6, and the NEA is that the DOJ is saying both will either make B6 bigger or grow the big 4, which B6 can use to their advantage. If the NEA decision stays the same, B6 can say that the DOJ saying no to shrinking or growing the big 4, and they cant have 2 different opinions on the same matter, which can give them leverage towards completing the spirit merger.

B6: there, it's over now. give me NK.

The primary point of the alliance was to be able to compete at JFK. AA and JetBlue have limited landing slots there and they cannot get anymore. Delta owns about 1/3rd of ALL the slots on its own. This was AA's only chance to get some of the connection slots that JB has. JB is second. It was mutually beneficial for the airlines and offered series competition to DL. With that gone, JB can't really compete with Delta on any front. They do have more international flights but that is because of the carriabian. But it limits how many passengers they can take and send off through codeshares.

American and jet blue was very good for customers. It should never be up to the government to tell you witch one you can fly. The customer will make there own decisions with one to buy the ticket from The service was better when they had there alliance

I think that the Northeast Alliance was a good idea in theory, but in practice it made the aviation industry complicated, and hiked prices up due to the lack of competiton. While I was fine with the alliance existing, as a proud JetBlue Status Holder, I stand with JetBlue's decision to not appeal the alliance and to shift their focus to where it was most promenant, That being the accusation of Spirit Airlines and the attempt to break through the 'Big Threes' grip on the industry.

If DOJ approves the B6-NK merger, I don't see how the NEA gets revived, even if AA gets a favorable ruling on appeal.

If DOJ nixes the merger, and the Court of Appeals allows the NEA to go forward, then it seems reviving the NEA is the easier path for Jet Blue.

Personally, I think the judge got it wrong on the NEA. Delta has a large presence at JFK and LGA, while United has its EWR hub. To say the NEA is anti-competitive is a bit of a stretch.

As for BOS, Delta has filled out its schedule, fully utilizing Terminal A. The NEA and whether it's anti-competitve at Logan is not clear-cut.

Jetblue should merge with Spirit & Breeze

Southwest airlines is already the 3rd largest carrier in the US. It's bigger than United. It may not be a legacy carrier but it is one of the top 3.
So with United we already have the big 4. But combining Spirit and Jet Blue still wouldn't come close to United, which is the 4th largest carrier.

Any thing that restricts American Airlines is ok by me.
