I believe the Bridge fire missed Mt. Baldy village. Many locals stayed to fight the fire. Very much appreciate the update.

I went up Old Baldy Trail (Bear Canyon) on Saturday. I'm absolutely gutted that it got torched. Thanks for covering this Cris!

Being a lifetime San Diegan it sickens me when we find out again and again that an arsonist was the reason for a wildfire--one can only hope that the authorities will throw the book at him. Thank you so much. On 09/10/2024 I watched Iron Mountain catch, from up in Viaverde, and my heart just broke. I’m old enough to remember all the big trees in the San Gabriel’s and I always thought we’d pass them along to future generations. I’m sad to see how the forest has changed over the last forty years.

Thank You for the Updates.
The news is reporting that an arrest was made for the Line Fire. The Bridge Fire nothing determined yet. Bear Canyon in Mt Baldy Village area, has with several cabins. Ice House Canyon is still untouched as are the trails connected to Ice House Canyon, like Cedar Glen, the saddle, Ontario Peak, Cucamonga Peak, etc. Manker Flats is still untouched as is the trail to the Ski Hut and also San Antonio Peak/Mt Baldy peak. Ski lift and Top of the Notch Restaurant are OK. Praying these areas remain untouched and that there is not further loss of property or any lives. God Bless the Firefighters!!!

Thanks for sharing this update. I feel like you - in shock and mourning the loss of a significant amount of hiking in the area. I’m glad I had a chance to hike sunset peak earlier in the summer and even sugarloaf not long ago. Thanks also for all the guides and updates you provide - they are invaluable!
