An investigation is underway after a 6-year-old girl died on a ride at the Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park in Colorado. The child was riding the Haunted Mine Drop, which drops riders "110-feet inside the dark depths of Iron Mountain in what feels like a free-fall.” Walt Stowe, a spokesman for the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office, said that his agency is investigating the accident and opted to not give any additional information, according to the outlet.

“Just a seatbelt” kids that age don’t even drive around in just seat belts at that age.

I'm almost certain that fast drop rides like this isn't aimed for kids under the age of 10year...

I can’t imagine the pain and horror that little girl went through just before her death. How very sad.

This is sad. This little girl didn’t have to die like that. Safety first.

Let’s be honest who would let a 6 year old girl ride the scariest ride in the USA

What a horrifying way to die, no child that young deserves to have their entire life taken from them in such a disturbing way. I hope the passing was quick and they didn’t have to suffer at all.

The fact they didn’t even care enough for the concern of the lady says a lot about why they wouldn’t care for the little girl. Obviously safety isn’t their top priority.

I have a 6 year old son. He wouldn't have gone near that ride. This is heartbreaking. Prayers to the family.

There’s a reason we have height, weight, and sometimes age limits, to prevent incidents like this.

from ABC: "Investigators found the child was sitting on the two seat belts instead of wearing them across her lap, and two newly hired operators never noticed despite doing checks. Investigators also found that an alarm system warned of a problem, but one of the workers reset the system and started the ride because they weren't trained well enough to know what to do about it."

Safety is one thing, how was a 6 year old even allowed on a ride like this? I'm pretty sure, in my country, all the amusement/water parks have a certain underage rule.

Not having shoulder harnesses to make the ride more scary is the stupidest justification I've ever heard

They should've said she was too young. But the again money and satisfaction beats all forms of logic in some people

A 6-year-old seems too young to be on a ride like that. It is clear that adequate safety precautions were not properly followed. I hope the family can get answers and can heal from this. May she R.I.P

who in their right mind thought that "feeling a bit more scary" is worth more than safety

No matter how much more scary or exciting it is without a shoulder harness, safety should always come first. R.I.P
