I went into BestBuy to compare the GS4 and Note 2. I walked out wanting an HTC One. The display was much nice in my eyes. Ridiculously crisp. Almost surreal. And the build quality of the phone is the first thing I've held in my hand that felt as sturdy and well built as an iPhone.

I have an S4, but after seeing the HTC One in shops, I have to say the screen quality is higher. However, I do like a larger screen and I love the AMOLED absolute blacks. I find the adapt display feature gets rid of most of the gripes people might have about realism. Reading books is a pleasure too. I don't know if it's Play Books, or the phone, but whites get a book-paper-like yellow tint which is extremely pleasing to look at :)

There is really no substitute for actual screen comparisons side-by-side, I could immediately tell the differences between my 4S, HTC One and the S4. The HTC One's screen was closest to that of an iPhone 5 in overall quality. The 4S came in a close second but with slightly more washed out colors. The S4 came in a close third, with greenish tints to yellow, dimmer screen, and inexplicable lag/pauses when navigating the phone, scroll lists, or the browser.

I've only seen the S4 display so far, but I like the front facing speakers of the HTC One. If I ever get the chance to see the HTC One and handle it I can only imagine that it will be a bit more crispy than the S4 due to it's slightly smaller screen.

I checked out both phones at an AT&T store a few days ago and they both have great screens. The S4's screen really impressed me although I do prefer the HTC One's display since it seems slightly more natural, but that's nitpicking. Both screens are fantastic!

While being just about 5% less accurate on colors "barely even noticeable" it still shows true black, has extreme contrasts, and has a more proper white balance. Which in turns actually makes it overall way more natural. lack of contrast, high white balance, and faded/ghosted greys are not natural or accurate. Like it or not it's fact. The blue tint becomes more noticeable on camera. I have noticed this myself after a couple years.
And each Amoled has gotten brighter. The S4 even actually gets

My fiancee has the s4 and I have the htc one. Your video explains it perfectly. One of the main reasons I didn't get the s4 is because of amoled burn. I also noticed the purplish tint to the s4's screen. They are both beautiful phone and unique in there own way. The s4 is complicated in its ui and the htc a bit simpler. You really can't go wrong with either.

Very good review. I own a htc one and maybe I'm being biased I don't know, but all I can say is I have never seen anything so sharp as the display on my phone. Super Duper Sharp !!!

I went to a Best Buy and compared the Galaxy S4's screen (Movie Mode) to the HTC One's, and I honestly think that OLED still has a long way to go before it can equal LCD. For example, yellow images on the S4 had a slight greenish tint (because OLEDs have a bluish tint overall, which turns yellow into green), and the screen brightness was nowhere near the same as the One's. The S4 also had the occasional random lag time when scrolling through menus or browser - thanks, no doubt, to touch wiz.

When I looked at the HTC One in pictures, I thought the display looked smaller than the S4. But when I put both side by side, it seemed as if the One's and the S4's displays looked somewhat of the same size. But, in the end I chose the S4, since the One's UI just wasn't for me.

Hey...almost the same thing I did just today. I compared the S4 and the HTC One. I went to a site with lots of nature pics (national geographic), then put both phones side by side (along with my iPhone 4S). I was expecting to be wowed by the S4, but I was disappointed. The S4 was in Movie Mode, max brightness, auto bright off, auto screen tone off.
