Storage is one of the key factors to consider when buying an iPad. And with the base storage still stuck at 64GB on the brand new iPad Air 5 2022, is this going to be sufficient if you planning to invest in one. Let’s check what you can do on a 64GB iPad Air 5 as the next storage option, the 256GB version runs you over 700$ and at that price point, the M1 iPad Pro seems like a better bargain. So, in this video, we will check what you can store on both the 64GB iPad Air 5 and 128GB M1 iPad Pro .. and see if you need to go for that 256GB iPad Air 5 or at that cost, opt for the iPad Pro instead.

Apple intentionally made 64gb and 256gb option to force users to feel cramped and reluctantly buy the 256gb because they don't have 128gb option

I've had mine for months, still have 43 gb free. I edit video and photo a lot, but i save my projects externally on my NAS. I found in the past when i opted for a 128gb iphone i ended up with a load of pointless clutter! I cleaned it up recently, now that's sitting with 94gb free. More isn't really better, 'enough' is good. Working with 64gb ultimately helps you because it makes you organised.

You actually said something in the passing in this video that is crucial in relation to the lower 64gb capacity iPad when you were talking about games. It’s all about what you’re doing at the time. So enjoy games, if you’re playing them one at a time. By that logic you can also edit videos if you’re doing one at a time. Or make music if you’re not loading your iPad full of projects. With my current iPad I tend to move my projects to my 200gb iCloud when I’m done. I’ve had an iPhone for a while now, years, and still only have 80gb used of my 200gb on iCloud and I haven’t even YET went in and removed dud pictures and videos. For this reason I’ve just opted for the iPad Air 2022 at 64gb. This was a good video my dude.

This addresses the question of 64GB usage capacity and use cases (eg video, photo, editing) much more comprehensively than other channels as well as comparing and contrasting the options for different amounts of memory use required. Specifically providing tech details such as average app size to give an idea of how far and how much of each category can fit onto the Air with only 64GB. Then proceeding to point out the other options such as iCloud, streaming and external storage (ext. disks or pocket drives "usb-sticks").

Similarly it's important to point out the 64GB starting size for the Air 10.9" vs the 128GB 11" Pro starting size for +$50 more than the higher storage of the Air 256GB plus superior tech: Screen, Thunderbolt, Camera which seems a deliberate pricing tier strategy by Apple.

As said this was the best resource on this subject I watched and was logically organized and clearly described. Thank you.

I suspect 64GB is adequate for my use case if I rely on Cloud services more and don't mind paying for those. 128GB would be a lot more helpful and convenient however as necessary eg future software updates management of memory.

Thank you for assuring me the value of 64gb and the fact that even 1tb will not be enough for creative use. All I need is the access to Apple Pencil 2 to do daily short notes and graphic designs, and will be backing them up regularly. No gaming, no movies, no photo gallery saved, only streaming contents on YouTube and Netflix. The money saved will be used on accessories like external drives and device protections.

Still contemplating on magic keyboard tho, that thing is too expensive for what it does, but it complements the package well.

This is 2022 64 gigs shouldn't be an option 128 to 1 tb

Pay around $10 monthly and we’ve already had 2tb google drive storage. The 64gb storage is really my go-to

I love how you have broken down the usage aspects in such a simplified manner for most of us. Also, it is simply Apple's strategy to keep storage options in a way that buyers are pushed towards the more expensive ipad Pro keeping the pricing model such that with each upgrade you feel like you have to shell out more, might as well get the next higher up model. Classic Apple pricing.
Asking yourself the question of how much you need and what you'll do like you mentioned in the video really helps break it down and decide more objectively.
Great video! :)

To save space I usually keep only student and art related content on iPad, and more personal stuff on my phone, including music, social media and gallery. Even then using cloud storage is a big help too!

Incredibly helpful. I was frustrated out of my mind about who put 64gb on an iPad. This was soothing to watch.

This is such a great video. Now only are you giving an overall view of what storage would be idea, but you explain how much storage different things take up. Pictures. Videos. Downloading movies or shows, game/apps and so on. Books too!!! I have like 200 books on my iPad and in the last two years I bought a few series of manga and my storage for books is now taking up 9gb. I wonder if it’s the manga taking lots of space with all those images. Just checked. Certainly is. One of my demon slayer books is 153mb whilst a regular book with words only is 1.9mb I bought an iPad mini specifically for reading and went for the 64gb because it was $100 off on sale. I won’t have a ton of manga on it as I blaze through those quick and prefer regular books but I hope the 64gb I pad mini will be enough for me. My old Nooks with a fraction of storage of that was good enough.

I just got a 64gb air for school note taking. It’s not my main device as I have a MacBook laptop & a windows desktop so I think I’ll be fine as I’m just using notability on the iPad.

Very useful video!

I was originally going to get the 64 GB model, but my father stepped in and basically bought me the 256 GB model. I figured 64 was enough considering that I use it minimally, but my dad disagreed and said the 64 GB was a rip off.

The answer is NO.
You DO NOT want to fret and stress about not enough storage space.
It ruins the user experience

Quite stressed between Air 5 64GB or pro 128..It's merely for teaching like ppts and such, one mobile game and of course netflix. Im afraid 64 GB isnt enough or is it more than enough🤦‍♂️

Is the 64gb going to be enough for taking and storing notes and downloading Netflix movies and YouTube videos ?
