In video 1679 we'll look at Jason's 7-Pin dimple lock that was designed for new construction homes, with a number of keys that sequentially deactivate each other. A very cool design, but with limited application.

I bought the same lock in Ohio. Ordered it from Walmart.
My first dimple lock ever. A cheap $7 lock to play with. And I learned about construction keys.

I'd love to see a dissection of this lock to show the mechanism for deactivating the worker keys!

Fancy the key having a milled slider groove and there not being any in the lock. How crazy is that!!!
Nice easy quick open there Bill.

@bosnianbill the sliders are probably on the "External Side" of the lock, you might've picked the "Internal Side".

There is a ten pin model with sliders too. Raking the pins and picking the sliders is my preference though.

Are the slider marks on the key a fake out to slow you down looking for them while you pick the lock ??

Great quick pick this morning Bill! So do you think that he got ripped off, is that just a scare tactic in the key? Maybe that's why there's no name on the lock 😉

Could it be the sliders were the active pieces when the conduction keys were in use?

Great video as always, Bill! I have not had any experience with dimple locks yet however, this lock appears to be pretty cheaply made. Have a great day and stay safe!!

Are there locks out there where the construction key can be activated and deactivated multiple times?

Maybe the sliders are there and they are passive for key control.

They are a good concept. I've seen them here but not sure if they are used much as I've been out of the industry in 20yrs. I'm sure I've seen you show how they work internally in an older vid.🤔

Wouldn't the red keys still give a LOT of information about bidding and keyway? Unless those ball bearings are in every chamber (and then you wouldn't need the slot at the end, it would be a different system).

Looks like a Yale lock I have (Yale B-YS3-3535B Yale Platinum 3 Star)
7 pin 4 sliders in mine as far as I can see by eye. The sliders in mine were hard to see, up in the top left hidden near the back by the pins
