Nice vid. This one, and the filter change explanation. The small hand pump is no good though.. on a Ford Focus 2.0 Tdci 136kw 2007. You will need to take the small cap off the top of the filter housing and fill with diesel. Also syringing diesel down the line between filter and HP pump will help if you do get stuck using a hand pump, remebering to fill at filter side, then undo the pump side so it flows to the end.. and repeat.. and repeat. You may also need to have a secondary car ready hooked up with cable and high revs to help it along when starting. Plus, while you're there.. bleed the injectors. Well.. that was my Sunday anyway. On a plus side.. Cleared my ESP Fault that I thought was a split turbo pipe or DPF Filter Limp mode issue. Thx Man!

This is a god send! Haynes manual, although good, does not show this procedure very clearly. Thank you very much for your help with this

Tried this method but what it doesn’t show you is how to disconnect the bulb without reintroducing air in to the system before reconnecting the line. Tried to restart it but it just cut out and wouldn’t restart. Ended up towing it up the road and bump starting it.

If you have no fuel in the line after the filter will this help it start?

Hi, do you know if this is required after removing diesel heater for servicing? Don't know how the diesel system works for the heater. (Eberspächer)

Hi mr fix, I have a mk3 galaxy tdci 2.0 2006, i few months ago while going along the engine malfunction warning displayed on the screen and the engine cut out, tryed starting it and it fired up. same thing happened aging but more often, had fuel filter (not genuine) changed and crank and cam sensor no better. garage said needs new fuel pump.

I got forscan and the codes are P0003 regulator circuit, i have been through all the wiring and all are good. The car runs perfect and can sit for a couple of weeks and it will start straight up. when it does cut out i don't get any warning like rough running or juddering.

The car does not go into limp mode just cuts out.

I do have some bubbles in the fuel line from filter to pump but i think i had them from when i got the car and have done 15k miles without problem.

what i have noticed is that when its running if i juggle or rattle the fuel filter housing i get a lot more bubbles.

Hope that you can help me.
i get good mpg.

i have posted a link to a video on here that is the excect same problem but the guy has not updated with any results.
You videos are great.

many thanks

steve

You what I primed and primed cracked off the injectors one at a time primed and primed.
Then I said f it got some brake cleaner down her throat hole, a couple of quick sprays while cranking, kept it revving and it was job done, no bubbles no problems starting.

Get ready to stall the engine by putting it in 5th gear and drop the clutch if you spray too much you will blow the engine so beware
Its a 2 man job btw

I accidentally opened the air bleed screw while my engine was running, and it stalled... Is there any other way to get rid of the air?

I have a similar issue with the same engine. For some reason, one day i found myself not being able to start it. When i checked under the bonnet, i realized that the fuel line is dry. Tried to bleed it according your video using the return line. But the pressure is so strong that the vacuum pump just cant suck the fuel thru the high pressure pump... any ideea's of what i can do to start it ?

This method didn't work for me trying to pull the fuel through the return line, it has to much pressure against it. Any ideas to try?

Hi, I changed the filter with new O ring last week and done all as its shown in your video. The problem I have, I still keep getting bubbles in my fuel system. Even I done 300 miles since the S-max sometimes struggle to start up, sometimes I have to turn engine few times untill it start up. Any idea where to look? Pipes on the engine are in good condition, could be the housing it self? Or fuel lines under the car? Thanks in advance.

Hi there, i have the Focus '06 with the same engine. I bought manual pump from peugeot 407 but i have to use it every day to manually pump and start the engine. It is sucking air from somewhere and i cannot find out where. When it stays over a night, it does not start in the morning without pumping the manual pump. The fuel filter is well tightened. Any ideas?
