Deputy PM Dominic Raab resigns over bullying report

Dominic Raab has had more jobs at the top of government than almost anyone else: Brexit Secretary, Foreign Secretary, Justice Secretary, Deputy Prime Minister and acting Prime Minister when Boris Johnson was in hospital with Covid.

Today he had to leave government for bullying behaviour in two of the complaints against him which included "humiliating, intimidating and persistently aggressive behaviour" according to a report that took five months to compile.

But he leaves high office as a man who says he's more sinned against than sinning with one of the least remorseful and most blistering exits this street has seen.

Leave it to the biggest bullies to play the biggest victims.

To be caught i's one thing.
To be caught and blame the people you bullied is another.

There is no lower form of life than a bully.

Civil Servants (and I can say this having been one) are held to account by a regular review process and a code of conduct that is far more rigorous than is the case for members of the Commons or indeed the Lords. Given that, I can't understate what I huge deal it is for Raab to be sanctioned in this way. We don't hear anything about Civil Servants claiming expenses to heat their stables or using their mates to win multi-million pound PPE contracts to be award to jack-in-the-box companies, because rules prevent it - rules from which our elected officials are immune. It's not the unelected bureaucrats we need to worry about, it's the elected ones!

How many cabinet ministers have gone now? Knock them down but another one springs up like a Jack -in-the-box. We should be rid of the lot.

There are ways to be a firm boss without humiliating anyone.

Bullies never want to admit they are bullies. His language is very clear...no remorse. In fact he feels he is the victim.

Given the performance of his departments, clearly, his bullying was not very effective. This is never the way to get the best out of people. He presents like Mr Angry so its not a surprise. In any private company, he would have been fired and they would have 8 tribunals to deal with.

Bullying & victim blaming are endemic in the UK

Anyone who's watched Raab's conduct in Parliament, especially when facing questions, need only watch the clenched fists, the white knuckles, and the throbbing veins in his head, to know that he's a toxic timebomb of violent fury.

It's a miracle he hasn't yet been arrested for killing anyone.

I wonder what a conservative minister would actually have to do before Rees Mogg would stop making excuses for them

The sense of privilege oozes out of every pore of JRM. Can't see that Raab is any different.
I'll never forgive Raab's indolence over the withdrawal from Afghanistan.

So, Dominic Raab writes his own column in the Daily Telegraph, then chooses to be interviewed by the GB News. It doesn't seem like that guy is willing to answer any tough questions.

Being irritated and being annoyed is not the same as being a bully JRM. Tired of these politicians using Machiavellian tongues to cover themselves.

'Persistent intimidating behaviour.' We would rightly find this appalling in any other social dynamic. That sentence tells me he had to go.

He's a bully fullstop should have been sacked not allowed to resign !

Mogg really thought he had a good one in the end there, but that says far more about the Conservative party than it does about the civil servants.
