Bo Katan and then never faced off of the dark saber. Was there ever a point in the Star Wars show, that the two were going to fight? And if not, why. Actress, Katee Sackhoff gives her reasoning.

It didn't have to be to the death, but rather to submission - as had been implied in Moff Gideon's case. Would have made for the episode people thought was coming, and would have justified his pledge to serve her until her song is written... in short, you do it by letting John and Dave tell the stories they intended...

Him: Bo’s gonna be bad this season right? Bo and Din by the end 😍😍. I don’t mind how they resolved the dark saber thing. Maybe they made it so roundabout because they knew they’d destroy it. And by that point they had enough respect and possibly more for each other to not be keen on fighting.

I'm sorry but there's a problem with that explanation. Bo didn't lose the Darksaber by dying, neither did Moff, yet both are seen as legitimate changing of hands. They could have fought in ritualistic combat same as she does with Axe. If you're already doing a fight between 2 mandos in front of everyone, why couldn't it be Din? Axe calls out that he has it, so she challenges him fights him, wins and the scene ends literally the same way, in about the same amount of time.

Duels as a form of determining leadership is a fucking horrible system (see Killmonger), and is unironically already the cause of the downfall of Mandalor (ie the OG Vizla collecting it for the intent to rule and then Maul comes along to WIN it, and directly led to the ruin of Mandalor).
So in my opinion Bo refusing to fight Din over a incredibly stupid rule is a sign of her painfully earned wisdom and maturity, and in maintaining that integrity she earned the loyalty of Din. A MUCH better method of leadership. If she challenged Din, I would have lost all respect for her. So I'm glad she's smarter than all the 'fans' eager to crown the most brutal murder with absolute power.

To be honest… It’s not like the writers didn’t write themselves into that corner.

They could’ve ruled Mandalore together or had Mando lose the Darksaber to Moff Gideon and had Bo Katan win it back at the end which satisfies her revenge and finally makes her the ruler of Mandalore.

I see some comments saying that this system of dueling for leadership is bad and that Din doesn’t want to lead, all those ideas are fine and dandy except when they cause Season 2’s ending to be completely disregarded, Grogu and Din’s separation? Doesn’t matter they’re together at the start of this season as if nothing happened

The tension between Bo and Din at the end of S2 over her wanting to duel Din for the Darksaber to properly earn it? Nah that doesn’t matter, Din explains many loopholes with the ritual duel method that technically allows Bo to beat up some random Mando guy to get the Darksaber; a.k.a, not the proper way of getting it as shown with previous ritual duels in clone wars and mando

If the writers really wanted this to be the way everything went, than they should’ve at least built up to it instead of tossing Season 2’s ending away so suddenly, have an additional season between 2 and 3 where Din is on his own for at least the first half, show us why Bo grows to be fine with the way she eventually gets it instead of her suddenly being ok with beating up a non-darksaber user to get it from the actuak darksaber user out of nowhere

Why do they change the rules for Bo and Din....the ownership doesn't have to change hands through defeat in death. You just gotta beat them

If anyone played the first Darksiders game. There is a way the antagonist has to let himself get "killed" by an ally in order to fulfil a death pact. The character does die, but is brought back to life. I think they could have written a way for them to at least have a showdown.

(1) The villain (Moff Gideon) wanted them to fight. The audience should want the opposite of the villain.
(2) The writers are VERY interested in people creating their own culture, instead of adhering to self destructing norms (the dark saber was an impetus/encouragement for every civil war in their history).
(3) Battle FOR the defense and protection of Mandalorians is more important than battle for the sake of battle. Whether it would have ended in death or not, a fight would have set a terrible precedence for Bo Katan’s rulership.
(4) As Katee says later in this interview, Bo Katan’s character is inspired by Plazir to maybe advocate a democratic rule for the future of Mandalore - if she can get that far. Once again, a fight for rulership would have undermined that new intention of her character. You see a look of extreme disappointment when she thinks Din Djarin is about to challenge her to a fight, or something crazy. 😂 She ain’t gonna fight him for nothin’;
(5) the fight’s legitimacy would’ve been questioned regardless because of Djarin’s disregard for himself being the weapon’s owner. Death probably would’ve been the only means to make sure no one questioned her passion. Only then would Din Djarin fight for the saber in his natural desire to want to stay alive for his and Grogu’s sake. He might’ve only made sure Bo Katan submitted rather than died, but then the other Mandalorians still wouldn’t accept her leadership - which would’ve been the whole point of the fight in the first place for both of them. It would have literally been pointless for both characters to fight each other in that moment, with both of their motivations in mind.

Like Bo's characters and Katee's portrayal of her. I just fear this is no longer The Mandalorian about the adventures of Din, but of Bo Katan.

It wasn't to the death with Moff Gideon so why would it have to be with anyone else?🤷‍♂️

To bad they had Gideon crush the Dark Saber. Din didn’t care for it in the end anyway. Bo or Grogu could’ve wielded the Dark Saber or just make Din keep it. Dark Saber was the best.

How do you write that?
Well..have Din lose the DarkSabre to Gideon then have Bo defeat Gideon…

They could've just staged a practice fight between Bo and Din. Or they could've just had Din become the king and Bo be his advisor.
