Building A House; How to install your own septic system!
Daniel Woodell

During construction of our new house I decided to install my own septic system. This video shows the process it takes and how to go about doing it yourself to save a lot of money. It shows you what you need and the time it takes. This is a gravity feed septic system and shows how to install septic yourself.

Thank you for sharing, I know you don't have to but your BLESSING the little people 😍 share any and all knowledge you do as you go no matter how uninteresting you believe it may be. There's an entire world out here that could use your knowledge and experience. Thank you!

Nice job Daniel, wish they would of had you tube when we did our first two houses. My wife and I have built 3 houses. Starting in 1980 and finished the LAST ONE in 2009. The first one we dug everything by hand. Waterlines, septic tank, leach lines and footings. Too exhausting. The second we rented equipment. The third and FINAL we bought the same tractor, backhoe and loader, you have very good choice. I agree with your brother that unless you are going to continue using the equipment the best thing is to rent. We have 40 acres of farmland so always using the equipment. This was pretty interesting as I'd never seen those infiltrators before. We used perforated pipe laid in 3' trenches with a foot of leach rock below and above, 600' feet of lines. The last house was so much harder as far as the hoops necessary to jump through because of the regulatory agencies. But framing was so much easier with nail guns. Thanks for the video.

Next time dig out the tree do not cut it down . Use Excavator to push over tree stump and all. I have logged in the north west. Tree makes a good lever for stump.

I love your desire to do things yourself I'm the same way put in numerous septic system's in my day and repaired allot also the only thing I didn't like was the 45 I have had or experienced problems with this in the past but over all great job !

Great video. I was wondering if I could do the septic myself and your video makes me believe that I can. Thanks

Where I live in Texas you have to have a licences installer for the septic tanks. The installers need to know where the laterals are going to be placed so they don't contaminate creeks and rivers or if you are on a well water system they can't be within so many feet.
If you have a hydro-system that runs the waste water through settling tanks and chlorine tanks they have to be inspected every year by a licensed inspector.

I'm using my daughters iPad to watch but I'm glad you are taping. I bought a land in willow and need to see how it's done so I can hire someone to do it

Here in Grays Harbor county we are required to have 6inchs of river run rock under and on top of the drain pipe.
Nice you didn't have to.

Great job my friend hard work by yourself which I will also be doing by myself, I am going to try abs figure out a way to build a contraption that will allow me to drive at least a tractor over the top of my septic system piping and filterators, I will figure it out, or at least 1/4 ways in each end, spray on some cooking oil or natural base oil & lay some sort of protection on top and underneath plywood or whatever type of support in going to use there is plenty of poly board or woods look aligned out there but I’m going to be able to drive over it I’m 18 miles from city but still having the drainage pRt inspected I gotta pay the guy to come out and check it out for me after hours. Just want the draining done right lol thanks for the video

I have a L4740 KUBOTA tractor with a backhoe. Man they come in handy.

Very rich-looking soil. You probably didn't need that many diffusers, but code always calls for over-kill. Looks good. I have a 60 year old simple system that still works. Hasn't needed pumping out in decades. Hope you didn't attach your washing machine drain to it. Bleach and soaps can kill the anaerobic bacteria that breaks down solid wastes.

Almost fell out of my chair when you said Kitsap County. We just started building in Seabeck and intend to install our own septic as well. Good to know about the 4 foot trenches to show the county the soil. Thanks. Fowler, Ferguson, or elsewhere?

Thanks again Daniel. As I am pretty sure the top of my septic tank is higher than the bottom of my footings, I really hope i do not have to sleeve through the crawl space wall as I am not entirely sure how to properly seal around this penetration without incurring any water in my crawl space? Maybe I have to lower my septic tank? Not sure how far down I have to dig for my footings yet however. Fingers crossed.

If I use a DI box I made sure it's attached to tank cemented so I can't move otherwise further away it'll shift and give unequal distribution I prefer header pipe
