Correction: The Mk.8 GTI Is available in other markets as a manual transmission, I meant the Golf R is US and Canada only in a stick. Sorry for the confusion -Tommy

It's like VW saw all the rave reviews for the Mazda3 and Civic high quality knob controls and said, "Nah. People say they like them but they really don't." 😐

Get rid of the haptic controls and this is one of the best values in the segment I believe.

I like everything about the GTI except the lack of buttons/controls on the dash and infotainment.

Call me crazy, but I like these cloth seats way better than the leather ones, plus they won't burn your behind in those hot summer days, nor freeze it on winter.

Love the color. Wasn't wild about the exterior at first but it has grown on me. The interior is unforgivable.

I’m a 60 year old female & just traded my 7.5 which I had only for 7 months.

Guys, if I find the new system super easy & intuitive, I’m sure a male who loves cars & fancies himself a tech head will too 😮

Seriously, the car has been vastly improved in ride quality, the steering wheel feels awesome, the added insulation underneath the car is most welcomed.

The haptic buttons on the steering are really easy & have functionalities that reviewers are over looking because they don’t have enough time with the car.

The infotainment screen is intuitive and full of shortcuts

It’s a great system in a *car* that has been hugely improved

For the price, the GTI is great value

Especially at the base trim

For anyone commenting on the touch buttons, have you sat in it and taken a test drive? If your over 50 yours going to dislike it most likely. I test drove it and in many ways the whole system is a plus. Don’t complain till you use it.

Love the Golf GTI, extremely practical and phenomenal to drive. Arguably the best daily driver.

Good video.
I have a 2023 GTI.

Controls have been a complete non issue for me. Like any other car I learned where everything is after a day or two from repetition and performance of the system is snappy. The press on this reminds me of antenna gate; the cool thing to complain about because there isn’t much else negative to say about the product.
That’s my experience as an owner at least.

Those haptic controls are a big No from me.

Ah, the GTI!!! My beloved! The best all-rounder car ever made. It was great to see Roman enjoying himself in this pocket rocket.

I'm still loving my 2016 GTI S 6-Spd. If I drive conservatively, I can get 37 mpg highway. Yet it will provide enough performance for me to put a big smile on my face. Oh, and with the back seats down, I can haul enough to fit what a college kid needs to bring home from school at the end of a term.

Wish they wouldn’t have ruined the interior with garbage touch controls.

I’m happy I got my Mk 7.5 GTI. The Mk 8 doesn’t look like it is really moving forward with that interior.

I was lucky to own a 2014 GTI with the Autobahn Edition and it was probably the funnest vehicle I’ve ever own.

My 1st car was a 1984 VW RabbitGTi in 1990. I've had Jettas also but after a 20 year absence, I just bought a 2021 ID.4 and I'm thrilled to be back with VW. The GTi will always be a special car. Thanks for sharing.

Just picked up a '15 Gti 2 door. 6spd. Its a blast to drive & super quick. Yet gets good mpg. Seats are excellent.

I had two GTI's, a 2016 and 2021 MKVII. After seeing the MKVIII and that interior, I decided to go a different direction for my manual shift weekend car-I got a Mazda3 hatch instead. If they could've put an interior that nice into this new MKVIII, they would've had me. I already had issues with VW electronics when the weather was very hot or very cold, I can't imagine how finicky this will be with all the haptic buttons and so forth. Plus the rear end of this new one looks like a Tiguan, and I don't dig the honeycomb foglights. Sigh.
