Rig building 102 - Dual PSU Options Mining Rig

This is the 2nd video in a series of videos that show how to make a 12 GPU Mining Rig from beginning to end.

There is no one way to connect it, this is just an intro into my set up. All PCIE connectors should be connected to the server PSU, whereas the SSD, CPU, MOBO, and all risers should be connected to your ATX PSU.

A couple other YouTubers have made content on the subject as well.

I broke out an HD camera that I inherited and stitched together some clips. This was my first video editing project. I have not spent the time to figure out how to do any voice overs yet. This was a fun project to learn how to use Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2015.

This is of course not the only way to build a frame. Many others have different styles. Mine was designed to maximize space between GPUs and fit into a cheap 40 Sam's shelf.

Most platinum and titanium PSUs max out their efficiency at 65-80%. I have my Corsair HX1200i PSUs at 70-90% and am always getting 91-92% efficiency.
Buy the PSU that will handle your rig. Don't overload (risk: electrical fires, losing your rig) and don't underload (risk: waste money)
Also the differences between 80+ Gold, Platinum, and Titanium are about 2%. You won't make the cost difference back in the 5+ years you run it.
Lastly, the PicoPSU is a terrible idea for mining rigs. Why risk your rig on a cheap PSU? Those are mainly meant for itx cases and low power setups (e.g. 100W overall). For the cost per watt you're better off buying a bigger PSU that can properly handle your load.

Can I use 2 different PSU in my rig
NZXT - 750
CORSAIR - 1000
I've one more question regarding this do I have to power the risers and GPUs from the same power supply

Something like this
Primary PSU Corsair 1000 watts - 2x3080 1x Riser
Secondary NZXT 750 watts - 1x1660S 1X3060TiL 2x Riser

Awesome project. Everything I've read about building rigs says to power risers and gpu from same psu. Why are you powering all the risers from the atx psu?
