Parakeet is a general term for certain types of birds. The ones in all those videos are budgerigars or "budgies"

I was raised with parakeets (budgies) and love them so much!❤
Hoping to have them in my lonely life again soon once I can afford a place for them (and me)😊

Sadly, my male parakeet died last year. He literally withered away without warning. So my female parakeet has been very lonely, and its very hard to keep her happy. She doesnt want to play with anything. She does go on a swing but nothing else. She used to be very loud and happy, but now is quiet and very still. We have been trying to play with her but she doesnt want anything to do with us. She just flies away and looks at herself in the mirror for 8-15 hours at a time. We try to get her to eat but she is too focused on trying to recreate the feeling of being with another parakeet. We rescued a male dove to bring companionship to her, and the dove fell in love with her. However, she ate his back and tore all of his feathers off of his body. When we reintroduced them after he regrew his feathers, he mated with her and then got eaten by her again. So we just keep them in different cages, but keep them close to let them see each other. We let each bird out, but at different times to avoid the birds injuring each other. But this is not it. The female parakeet has recently started to be more withdrawn than before, so im thinking something is amiss. Can anyone help me? I domt know what to do. I am afraid that she will just wither away into bones like the other bird did. And no, its not because of starvation, but it turns out he got deathly sick. I dont know what this demon of an illness is, but it has killed the male parakeet and a baby mourning dove that i had. They were completely fine until they just stopped moving, stopped eating, stood in one place, and withered away.

The information is correct, but it's important to remember that there are many different types of parakeets. Parakeets are not limited to budgies.

There are new world parakeets as well like Parrotlets and Linnies, African ones as well like Love Birds, even Asian. Personalities vary, but most are pretty feisty.

Hello, I’m 14 I’m an only child and I’ve been wanting to get a budgie for a few months now because I need a companion and I know that they are loving, loyal, and cute and I was wondering if you would help me out by answering some of my questions that google cant.

1. How much will EVERYTHING cost (cage, food, bird, perches, treats, ect.) everything it needs to be happy
2. my room doesn’t have a door and I won’t be able to let my bird out very often. Since I can’t let them out should I get a bigger cage and if so how big?
3. I’m home often but since I still go to school. I only want one bird because I know training more than one bird can be difficult. Could I only get one bird?
4. which birds are more loving and fun to be around? Boys or girls?
5. How old is easiest to tame, gain trust, and imprint. (I won’t be able to bottle feed)

If you could help me out I would deeply appreciate it🙃❤️🦜

I used to use one video to train my parakeet kiwi how to talk and say it's name, and it was the best, but sadly he didn't make it and he died :( I literally cried so hard.. I wasn't ready for him to be straight up sick immediately like from energised to sick, but like now we have an aquarium at home of 9 fishes, and we still have 1 parakeet left, she puked, gave birth, fell in the toilet, got sick, got lonely, escaped out of thd house and we found her, yet the strong parakeet is a healthy survival, im so proud of her for being strong, but the 9 fishes is just to numb the pain and not think of kiwis depressing death

So if ever have a bird, or any animal, train them as much as you can to any possibilities before their death, or outjoy them with healthy toys and delicious millets, let them enjoy the best life because most of them only live for a few years
