InPresence host, Jeffrey Mishlove, PhD, is author of The Roots of Consciousness, Psi Development Systems, and The PK Man. Between 1986 and 2002 he hosted and co-produced the original Thinking Allowed public television series. He is the recipient of the only doctoral diploma in "parapsychology" ever awarded by an accredited university (University of California, Berkeley, 1980). For many years he served as president of the non-profit Intuition Network, an organization dedicated to creating a world in which all people were supported and encouraged in developing inner intuitive abilities.

Here Jeff shares his excitement and anticipation about meeting an individual whom he has not seen in 45 years -- Joanna Harcourt-Smith. When he originally met her, and interviewed her on KPFA-FM in Berkeley, California, she was known as Joanna Leary, the wife of Timothy Leary. She worked tirelessly for years to help release Timothy Leary from federal custody -- even promising to go on a hunger strike. Subsquently, in 2013 her book about these experiences was published, titled Tripping the Bardo with Timothy Leary.

Trying your best can be dangerously threatening to others. Tim would know. Open to all ways of healings and a better future for all. People seem to rather like waiting and complaining than to actually try to change. I am trying everyday. Yes, many people, too. I missed thanking

Tim Leary pioneered the helo prison break. His compatriots stole a helicopter, and landed it in the prison yard, Tim jumped aboard, and they flew low and fast (30 ft AGL) to a waiting getaway car. They found the abandoned helo later, and everybody got away. I may have been the pilot. (Is there a statute of limitations for participating in a federal prison break? LOL) Tim left the country shortly afterwards in a private plane. Amazing. Since then, there have been a number of similar prison breaks using a chopper.

Ooo, I was 9 years old in 1970, in the East Bay, and teachers in both school and church taught crafts from Africa, China, South America, how everyone is important, no matter what they look like or where they're from. We were taught that kissing without permission is rape, the rich are evil, and that most drugs are not even remotely as bad as the government would claim. Of course, by the mid-70's it was all demolished, and the media consolidations under Governor and then President Reagan drowned out the voices of truth and freedom, leaving lazy and busy people to be hypnotized by lies and money. I've met many holdouts, but their voices are rarely heard, because they don't want to be consumed or be consumers. Thank you for teaching truth.

I did the sixties and seventies like everything else: backwards. I didn't do psychedelics; I wasn't a disestablishmentarian (I was anti-war, but from a conservative point of view.) I wasn't a hippie; I joined the Air Force instead of becoming a conscientious objector (that was a possible choice, but I couldn't honestly say I was a CO.) After it was all over, I discovered psychedelics and Buddhism and Timothy Leary and Ram Das and David Bohm and J. Krishnamurti and Alan Watts and and and... The point is that we had everything we have now, just in different colors and proportions, and a lot of what we had then is still available because it was part of what I think of as the century of amplification.
I think generation theory (Strauss-Howe, Fourth Turning) has a lot to say that seems relevant to this topic. We Baby Boomers are said to be a Prophetic generation, most of our parents were Heroic or Artistic...our children, Nomads and Heroes again. Also, I can't stop thinking about Voltaire in this context. Some people are just in the right/wrong place at the wrong/right time (and they still live interesting lives.)
Would I want to hear from/see people from the past? You bet! Some of them should be getting daily psychic invitations to drop in or get in touch.
I hope you have an interesting and rewarding reunion, Jeff.

So strange that my husband is reading a book about Timothy Leary and just last night we were talking about the prison break. He was also telling me about Andrew Weil who was responsible for getting Leary fired from Harvard, and I was like, wait, what? as I showed him the eye cream I use every day from Dr. Weil's line with Origins. Crazy old world.

I apologize for ripping on a few folks. I'm a little excited. Behaving abnormally for those close to me, maybe far? I really wish to help you. You can study me however you want. I know we can help one another. I could really, super duper appreciate that. For everybody. Thank you, for any considerable Zen Buddhist Taoist considerations. And the rest

I've always envied and respected people who could saturate themselves in drugs and still maintain their mental discipline and focus. There are those who can be brilliant in spite of themselves!
(Just thought of Alexander Sasha Shulgin)

Once I had a girlfriend/friends in Canada I was visiting but forgot my wallet. They didn't let me cross. Luckily, I had just read the Tao of Pooh. The book. So I did like Pooh Bear. Walked in. Spent the weekend. Walked right back in to U.S. no questions. no answers

Is she the one that got into trepanation? Regardless, Dr. Mishlove should do an episode on trepanning called, “Hippies gone Wild” or something.
