Excel files corrupt regularly and is mostly slow

Thanks a lot, the Go To Special and delete object really help a lot for my case. Before that, adding a row or cell takes 1-3 minutes every time before it became unresponsive

Good Day and a MILLION THANKS. My excel was so bad and slow that I could almost make a sandwich and the app would still be churning when I got back. It was just picture links this whole time?! I've been dealing with this for years and it's just gotten so beyond slow that it would take me MINUTES to insert a row and I would forget what I was doing so one thing would take me hours to do. How does that even happen?! My spreadsheet is all numbers and words, not pictures... You are AMAZING! Thank you so much!!

Thank a lot! This is brilliant! I need to regularly update 15 workbooks on daily basis. Previously each workbook takes about 6-7 minutes. Time reduced by half removing these conditional formatting stuff. Really appreciated!

Used to have corruption issues years ago, but none for a long time. And I use TONS of conditional formatting, picture links, and userforms

Same here picture links was a major problem. Didn't know that was what they were, but I could see excel making them... they started appearing just by clicking on an empty cell (I did try deleting them when i noticed them). Has speeded up excel ten fold by deleting them.

The only problem this causes is it also deletes shapes/ buttons which have "Macros assigned to them" - I can remake them. I love my macros and they've never caused me any problems.

Thanks a ton. In my case it was picture links and took painfully longer even to click a cell. Following your steps, it reduced the file size from 1.5MB to 170KB! now it behave like a normal excel file

I dont usually reply ... but yes, "OBJECTS" was my problem. Thank you! File size went from over 1MB to 50kb. Holy cow. And now flies. Didn't realize I was pasting wrong. I was just using Ctrl-V. Need to be more careful.

I have a data set of 450K+ lines, but only 1 column. I need to find duplicates in this column so I run conditional formatting to locate duplicates. As soon as I do this, the tremendous lag begins. I then try to filter by color to show only the duplicates, but nothing. The dialog box just seems to freeze. If conditional formatting is the cause of the lag, what's the point of conditional formatting if you can't use it for a large amount of data?
